I dont know why else O neill would do it. Seems like he owns most of the horses as well.

I think they just want to boost the win%. Same thing Clement does every summer at Suffolk except Suffolk is like Keeneland compared to Beulah

Trainer of the 2 is 1/38 at BEU
Trainer of the 3 is 1/35 at BEU
Trainer of the 4 is 1/19 at BEU
Trainer of the 5 is 4/125 at BEU

And the horse was life and death

I guess the overall high win % makes it look good to potential clients down the line. Still seems odd for a guy who has won Gr 1's and big races to run horses at a place like Beulah.

That is what I thought was interesting about it.

I wonder if guys like Baffert, Mitchell, Mullins or Canani mess with him and congratulate him on stuff like the nice MSW winner at Beulah the other day?

Just saw where Jack Van Berg is sending a string to Thistledowns. Maybe Mullins will be at River Downs .

Jerry Hollendorfer is currently 43-for-85 at Portland Meadows current meet. His $2 ROI is just $1.96 ... which is way better than takeout ... but c'mon ... how the hell can you win over 50% of your races from that big of a sample and not be profitable?

It's Hollendorfer's 2nd season at Portland Meadows - at last years winter meet he struggled mightily to a 25-for-62 (40% wins) record .. his ROI was $1.63 .. which is about equal to takeout.

That begs the question ... is it easier to win at Portland or Beulah? ..

At the 2008 Beu meet ... Hollendorfer struggled badly .. winning just 8 of 30 starts (26% wins) with a terrible $0.74 ROI.

I don't know but Hollendorfer had a horse at Portland on Monday I believe. It's last line read "pulled up lame" or something like that from a race like only 2 weeks before. Of course it won for fun.

They couldn't win a 30 2L at Mountaineer w/ Shopton Lane. He was claimed out of a subsequent start for scratch. He went on to be a multiple stake winner of nearly 300k, sold to Dubai for 600k

They lost Cowboy Hardware at 75-1 for 40k. He ran on and made about 400, multiple stake winner once transitioned

They lost Korbyn Gold for scratch. Multiple stake winner of 600k once transitioned.

Woodard ran Talent Search for 12k maiden at Tampa

One of our posters claimed one from these guys and ran out 125k. Horse and owner will go un-named

The point is I seroiusly doubt these guys knowingly drugged any horse. If you are willing to lose horses like the aforementioned for essentially chicken scratch, why would you go through the trouble of doping some nickle piece of garbage.

The game needs more owners like Hays. A guy thats not scared to throw his cash in there and just wants to win. Hes like the Al Davis of thoroughbred racing. I have seen a lot of black and limegreen lightning bolts in flashbulbs lately, but its not due to any well thoughtout drugging of horses.

If these guys don't care about losing money wouldn't it be smart to just watch them and take what they don't care about?
