My prediction was based on up to his third year out if he can make it that far.

Don't be going SkidsMom on us....MISTER.

You fail to mention Oden and Bynum are only 3 months apart in terms of age. As a 19 year old Bynum averaged 8 points a game, 6 rebounds and almost 2 blocks a game in about 22 minutes a game. Yeah, he could barely walk and chew gum. Would Oden have done that in the NBA? I doubt it. Everyone saw what Bynum could do last year, so i won't bore you with his stats. Like I said, I don't think Oden could warm Bynum up. It's my opinion and we won't know how wrong or right it is until Oden actually proves what he can do in the NBA. His college stats are meaningless now.

age doesnt mean ****. Its nba experience that matters. Save half of a season in college, that was Oden's first game since high school. Lets lookat Bynum's FIRST year:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/teams/...avg=pg&split=0

The only thing Bynum was "warming up" was the bench.

these were the stats if you dont feel like opening the link:

46 0 7.3 1.6 0.7 1.0 1.7 0.2 0.09 0.48 0.4 0.53 1.2 0.0

To Hossy;

Oh I will agree....I only make a projection based on what I saw of him in one year ( hurt) at Ohio State. He could be snake bit,but I think he'll be a big time player if he gets over the injury bug. Even then I may be proven wrong.

But that's like SkidsMommy be proven stupid;happens all the time.

So, what exactly is your point? I think Bynum is and will prove to be a much better player. You don't. As I said, we'll see.

We will see. But one correction. This is Bynum's FOURTH year "learning in the NBA". Oden is in his first year besides half a college season.

Stats last night?

In 29 minutes Bynum had 8 pts 3 boards 3 blocks

Oden 13 minutes 0 pts 5 boards 1 block.

Interesting that a guy with a fraction of the NBA experience of the other guy that he cant "warm up" outrebounded him in his first game playing less than half the minutes.

Lucky rebounds i guess.

We will see. For the record, i think bynum will be a fine NBA center.

I watched the game last night...very under-impressed. Yeah, he got some boards and a block BUT....he showed zero offensive skills...NONE!! As Sir Charles said at halftime, he took one shot about a foot from the bucket and it went 6 inches...no touch at all! His hook shots (for want of a better word) clanged off the backboard....compared to him, Big Ben has the touch of Reggie Williams! Yeah, he should improve with PT but he has a long...very long, way to go to be an offensive threat in the NBA. Again quoting Charles, "I've never seen him score except by the dunk"! He also commits way too many silly fouls...if he does get healthy, this will greatly curtail his PT. Overall...I like the kid too, but he seems like an underachiever at the pro level. Conley, on the other hand, has an excellent chance to be one of the leagues best PG's...I predict a break-out season for him this year!

Are you insane?

13 minutes into his pro career and you can surmise that he is an "underachiever"?

Amazing.

I dunked on Jordan 4 times in my first 13 minutes in the NBA, didn't you hear?

The Lakers are so dumb. They should have sent an 18 year old and the future of their team out there to the wolves. As Bynum was "warming up the bench" what go around of his senior year was Oden on? Second or third?

The rebounding stuff is funny though. I would hope Oden can rebound. Shouldn't he be among the league leaders in rebounds? He's a monster.

Im not saying what they should or shouldnt have done...merely what they DID do. You want to compare a guy in his fourth season to a guy that is 13 minutes into his NBA career.

You said "oden couldnt warm bynum up". Correct? Well, he outrebounded him head to head in their first matchup and played less than half the time.

LOL. Thats underachieving...at the NBA level anyway.

That is the craziest statement i have heard in a sports discussion. How can you underachieve in the NBA after 13 minutes?

Mortimer 10-29-2008 01:31 PM

spit!!!!

Mortimer 10-29-2008 01:37 PM

I'm sorry...it was this Again with the rebounds. that did it.

I will stay out of this.

He didn't score a point. he can't shoot free throws and all he has proven to be able to do is dunk. He had no offensive game in college and unless they have some miracle workers on the Trailblazers coaching staff, I wouldn't expect much of an improvement. He isn't in the same league offensively as Bynum. I maintain he can't warm up Bynum when it comes to total skills and what they will both accomplish in their respective careers.

Total skills? bynum has played in over 150 pro games over 3 seasons compared to 13 minutes by oden. Yeah, bynum wins the skills portion of the competition after 13 minutes in the pros and 20 games in college for Oden. That makes a lot of sense.

Rebounds are a huge part of the game. Defense is a huge part of the game. Perhaps he will never be a dominant offensive player but he can dominate from the defensive end of the court and get his points off the boards. Why do so many people not understand that?

Expectations are amazing for a kid who has played 13 minutes. In 13 minutes we have one guy that says he is an "underachiever" (that was the award winner) and others say that he will never be a good offensive player.

The same thing happened when Lebron came out. People compared him to Kobe right away and thats just not fair. Compare them now.
