I think that's a bit harsh, Hossy. A claimer? Are the nine or so horses who finished in arrears of Tomcito in the Florida Derby all claimers as well? Hey Byrn? Fierce Wind?

Coach Pants 04-16-2008 12:02 PM

I think what Hossy is overlooking is the fact that Tomcito is three syllables.

The first Sunday in May can't get here soon enough.

we can just paste in the Caesar thread as there can't be anything that wasn't covered about this horse in there

He will basically pass everything that totally stops in front of him....

Which might actually be quite a few horses in this years Derby.

He could run a nice 9th or 10th if the pace is hot enough

they're not weird. you couldn't predict weird.

but ever since pg came back you could depend on a post after a prep was run that he liked the winner in the derby. sometimes the second place runner.

just wait for the lexington and see.

i might sound stupid but what is all this pg stuff about it seems to keep coming up with regards to jcs

JCS used to post here as the legendary PG1985

WHOA74 04-16-2008 01:11 PM

Honestly I kinda like the horse. He does make some sense but he's one to watch IF he makes it in the gate Derby day...

Might be able to get 4th or 5th if things COMPLETELY melt down... note the Imawildncrazyguy types- which is a lot more upside than most of these plugs. If I'm right, and the Florida Derby Beyer was actually too low, then he's got a legit chance to finish in the top quarter of the race (with a 0% chance of actually winning)

Unfortunately I think we're saying that about 80% of the field this year. Boy does this group suck.

Coach Pants 04-16-2008 02:01 PM

It would be nice if the powers that be change jcs' name back to POINTGIVEN1985.

Sheerly out of curiosity, has anybody ever seen any of Tomcito's races back in Peru?

Of course not. I don't need to see any of his races to know he's got a legitimate shot of winning the Derby. Three syllables...man.

The Indomitable DrugS 04-16-2008 02:21 PM

Yes - they are on YouTube.

I've also looked at the charts and final times of other races on the card the days he ran - he was not exactly running alarmingly fast times over there in Peru in relation to other dirt races on the card.

I saw one on YouTube once.

Pantsy, you're speaking to the choir. This will clearly be the reason for Big Brown's downfall. (That and the incredible lack of foundation, but I digress)
