good story, nice when the small guy can make a run.

just wondering if this will start a trend, naming horses for causes?
if so might we see horses down the road called "Breast Cancer Awareness" or "Erectile Dysfunction", although I think the latter does not suffer any for awareness.

I'm on the way home from the OTB and my friend calls me up to tell me about the El Camino being won by Autism Awareness.

I said, "I was listening to the radio and they just ran an ad about autism awareness. Did you know that the odds of a child with some form of autism is 1 in 150"

he said it was more like 60-1

Maybe he just wanted some more distance...all 11 races at 2 were 6f or less. His 3 races at 3 all 8f or 8.5f and his figures jumped immediately at the longer distance at the start of the year. (so what if it took him 13 races to break his maiden!!!)

I dont think I have ever cheered harder for a horse I didnt have any action on...it is a great story. I dont think anyone could disagree, give the horse a shot at some more graded earnings, and if he qualifies....send him to the Derby. As long as he is healthy heading in, the connections may live a lifetime of regret if they dont do it. Besides, he wont hurt any future stud fees if it dont pan out, he comes from way humble beginnings. It could only be positive.

if his name was joe schmo, this story would be so different. pull a few heart strings, bam. now he deserves a derby run, just because of the backstory?? forget the emotion for a minute, does this horse actually, truly belong, after one upset win?

he was about to come out of his shell and now he's back rocking in the corner of his stall.

hope you're happy.

oh boy...so sorry!

no, seriously--i haven't seen anyone write a post yet about this horses effort, his run that resulted in a win...all i've seen is that it's a nice story.

that's fine, everyone likes a story--but is anyone here looking to put a bet on this guy next time out?

the horse jumping shadows actually ran a 96 Beyer his last out (nikkisgoldensteed...one of the best two turn Beyers by a boy this year) and he beat him. So I think that's worth something at least.
