Seem like like preakness and derby were centuries ago, I mean we have forgotten about SS. Another super star, if SS were to run today, Rags would be on the bench. Lets say SS and Rags had a duel down the stretch, and SS lost by neck, Id say the same about SS as I said about Curlin. After Preakness, to me Curling and SS were on the same level. As things stands now, I give Curlin an edge over the rest of 3yo (yes Rags included). As I said before give'em some rest. and HE'LL BE BACK.

thought he dropped him too far in derby to give him a chance and then tried to put him through a wall of horses after having him in a position where there was no where to go. Preakness ride was ok, but today's ride was not best. He was lucky to get through that hole at the top of the stretch and barely made it, thought he would get him off the leaders, but in a position where he could make his run. Maybe I'm being a little to picky, Cannon, but just think that a JV, Gomez or Prado would really make this horse dangerous.

He rode the horse as well as you could have rode a horse today. Like I said I am not a big fan of his riding, I almost never ride him on my own horses and the Derby ride may have cost him second that day but he has done well on this horse. Did you think Gomez made Hard Spun dangerous today?

pointman 06-09-2007 09:11 PM

I don't and you are right the ride wasn't that bad. Just think that in the long run this horse is better off with a better rider. Maybe I just hate Albarado that much.

Honestly if he was mine there is no way that I would have picked Albarado and the odds are he will screwup somewhere down the line but he has ridden him well. He is probably riding as well as he ever has lately.

I guess that is more of the perspective that I am coming from. If I had a top horse like this, I would put a top rider on him. I just don't trust Albarado. The horse lost fair and square today, just think he has a bright future which can be brighter in the hands of a top jock.

How long until avance shows up in this thread?

I agree with Somer that Curlin is a tougher horse than Bernardini was. That's my opinion. No rights or wrongs.

i thought he rode basically a flawless race in the belmont, and in the preakness i actually thought calvin rode a better race than him but of course robbie had the better horse that day. i dont think robbie should be taken off this horse no way in hell! same as i dont think pino deserved to be removed off hard spun even tho hard spun had no business being in the belmont after he was empty like a nickel claimer in the preakness! cant quite figure out WTF HS's connections are thinking, with the blazing work pre derby and running in the belmont, trying that distance after the horse showed only 1 thing last out.........that he needs a rest! alotta people here blamed the oce cream man(pino), the blame solely lies with the connections
