Congrats to the Kings, 8-0 on the road so far is pretty damn impressive.

As bad as they have been all year, they have been pretty bad all playoffs and getting by with timely goals and Lundqvist. Might see Dubi tonight!

The chatter is that Dubi's in a Mitchell is out.

Could be just the spark we need if he is 100%.

Mitchell has played well in limited minutes. If this was results based only, he'd be in for Gaborik.

You know a guy is dirty when even Shane Doan is calling him out on it. Some shady play from Dustin Brown last night.

When has Shane Doan ever been up for the Lady Bing award? I like Doan, but he's another guy that plays on the edge.

slotdirt 05-23-2012 12:43 PM

That's my point. If Doan says it's dirty, I take it as double.

I look forward (hopefully) to him getting bounced around a lot by Callahan. Guy is trash.

Frankly they could take any of them out except Cally and Kreider for all I care.

slotdirt 05-23-2012 02:07 PM

Dustin Brown's always been kind of a wild card. He'll be nationally reviled if he continues his nonsense during the finals.

I'd like have both of them on any team I rooted for. You need players that have an edge to them and when they are highly skilled and can play special teams it is that much better.

i think if the kings don't score just after the hit, no one talks about it. it was obviously clean and even doan is going to realize that after he calms down.

smith is lol ridiculous trying to compare it what torres did to hossa.

After taking a huge swipe at Richards for no reason right after the OT goal...

If you think deliberate knee on knee hits are clean, I don't know what to tell you. Ask Cam Neely how those hits can work out for you. F'ing ridiculous statement.

he led with his shoulder. if you think every knee on knee contact is deliberate i don't know what to tell you.

there's no whistle and no league review. i think your asumption is f'ing ridiculous.

"Obviously clean." Other "obviously clean" hits in the mind of hi_im_god are below. Leader in the clubhouse for most uninformed comment on NHL hockey from this season's playoffs.

Seriously, just stop. Explain to me how one leads with a shoulder and hits a guy in the knee. You're out of your depth, man.

Shoulder? F that. The guy deliberately sticks his left leg out to make contact with Rozsival's leg.

And Shanahan didn't call a disciplinary hearing when Shea Weber turnbuckled Henrik Zetterberg in the first round. Is anybody stupid enough to believe he would do the same thing for LA's captain heading into the finals? Who do people think actually run the NHL?

slotdirt 05-23-2012 03:39 PM

Other difference, I should add, between Weber and Dustin Brown is that like 14 people care about the Kings, like, anywhere, while the Red Wings are probably the most popular team in the league.

I was wrong twice tonight.
First, I didn't think they could dig out of a 3-0 hole. Then once they got out, I thought that there was no chance that they would lose the game.

Hopefully they are able to repeat history. In 1994 they went on the road and won game 6 and then came back home to win game 7. They will need Hank to be a lot better than he was tonight.

They played 48 minutes of great hockey tonight, best they have looked in the playoffs. Dubinsky was everywhere as I had hoped. IF they can come away with a decisive victory on Friday they will win the series. I am not sure they have it in them after that loss.
On the plus side, they only lost 3 in a row once all year.

Unfortunately they gave up 4 goals in the other 12 minutes.

Lundquist's first bad game. Very poor timing. He needed to stop that 3rd one.

Thanks Dani, the Devils were the better team and deserved it (as painful it is for me to say that). Now I hope the Kings mop the floor with them.
I actually more burned up about the busted pick 5 at Pollywood.

dear kings:

please keep this in mind.

the curvature of the blade of the stick shall be restricted in such a way that the distance of a perpendicular line measured from a straight line drawn from any point at the heel to the end of the blade to the point of maximum curvature shall not exceed three quarters of an inch (3/4").

thank you.

Really good game one so far, going to OT.

MaTH716 05-30-2012 10:15 PM

Kings still perfect on the road.

It is outrageous what they are doing. Every bounce seems to go their way. They are playing great hockey but luck has certainly been on their side too. Except for the tying goal last night anyway.

MaTH716 06-02-2012 09:58 PM

Another exciting and well played game going to overtime.

MaTH716 06-02-2012 10:32 PM

Kings still perfect on the road, up 2-0 in the series.

I was just remembering the goofy illegal stick penalty from the 1993 finals. That was the NHL's equivalent of the George Brett pine tar incident, right?

Not necessarily...the NHL had the balls to uphold the penalty and not cower behind "the spirit of the rule" nonsense that MLB did back then. Every player knows that rule and you look like a real jacka$$ when you get nailed for something stupid like that.

slotdirt 06-04-2012 01:08 PM

Yeah, but how many dudes over the last 20 years have used an illegal stick whether they knew it or not? It was cherry picking by Demers, no doubt about that.

hi_im_god 06-04-2012 02:54 PM

the really sad part is it only wound up being mcsorely's second most memorable penalty.
