Awesome! I hope he breaks the record tomorrow.
|
Guess who's back in light training...
![]() That's who! His first race back will be in August, so still a little while away. |
Oh it's nice to see that face again! :D :tro:
|
198!
Congrats, James. :) |
Cool! :tro:

I hope everyone you know is okay, ed.
|
Yeah, all fine, thank you. But the people of Christchurch are going through such a tough time at the moment. Feel so sorry for them. It must be awful.
In more positive news, we have a new young star jockey! I think Rory Hutchings is only 16 years old, and he only started riding at the end of April. There were 8 races today - he won 4 and was second in another one. |
Nice!
What is James gonna do... is he leaving? Offers from all over the world... what do you hope he does, ed? |
I know he's staying here until November - he wants to stick with some of the good horses he rides, like Scarlett Lady and Keep The Peace.
I think he'll go overseas after that. I wish he would stay here, but the money is just so much better in places like Singapore, Hong Kong, Dubai. I think he'll go to one of those. :( |
I wish he'd stay too but I guess it's hard to pass up what I'd assume he's now being offered.
Aaah well good for him. You know I love Jimmy so very much and am thrilled to see the smallest piece on him but awww I feel kinda bad they didn't use a picture of The Hombre! http://www.thoroughbrednews.com.au/s....aspx?id=53699 Honestly ed is he like the biggest thoroughbred out there or did he just look that way during his last race? He looked massive! Bigger than Zenyatta and Midnight Lute. Someone once posted that the two of them crossed paths once at Hollywood Park and it was like an eclipse. :D Let me know who else is going in this race when you can since I'm a moron and cannot find such things. :wf |
The Hombre is HUGE! I think he's the biggest horse currently racing in NZ. I haven't seen any that big for a long time.
He's been a bit disappointing lately. :( He's much better than that. Here's the field for that race: 1 62780 Our Lukas (2) 58 Shane Scriven 2 X9420 Mr Clangtastic (1) 56 Damian Browne 3 22715 Shuffle the Cash (12) 56 Eddie Wilkinson 4 51X20 Spechenka (10) 56 Ryan Wiggins 5 63120 Gold in Dubai (7) 54.5 Michael Walker 6 22370 The Hombre (13) 54 Jim Byrne 7 62203 Little Stranger (3) 53 Scott Galloway 8 47147 Teary Eyed (9) 53 Jason Taylor 9 21X21 Arcenciel (11) 53 Chris Munce 10 X1365 Danagaze (4) 53 Andrew Spinks 11 80480 Warrior Within (15) 53 Paul Hammersley 12 1X639 American Gangster (8) 53 Nathan Thomas 13 51280 General Mackjosh (5) 53 Melissa Walters (a) 14 74606 Patmoss (6) 53 Joe Bowditch 15 02338 Rambling On (14) 53 So two NZ chances - The Hombre and Arcenciel, who I think is going to be very good but maybe needs a few more months before winning at this level. |
Hey ed can you refresh my memory...
Coup Align makes his belated Singapore debut this weekend. I remember he's a sprinter and that's about it (duh). Feel like sharing info on this one? Thanks! |
He's a pretty fast horse.
22 starts for 12 wins (5 stakes). He has run 1:07.79 and 1:08.05 for 6 furlongs, so he can run! |
Thanks!
It's a nice little field (R7 on Sunday) with some pretty decent types (Tuxedo Moon, Perfect Pins and Amadeus Mozart... a few others I'm not familiar with at all). Should be fun! |
Seachange's 3yo full-sister, Shipsterns, debuts in a maiden race on Saturday.
|
Oh cool thanks for the news!
Hows Jimmy doing? Where is he right now and any word on the plans for him? |
I haven't heard much recently, but I know he's back in training and his first target is the G1 Hawke's Bay Challenge Stakes on his home track at Hastings. That's on August 27.
|
Some of the new stallions in NZ for 2011:
Makfi Rip Van Winkle Shocking Paco Boy Showcasing Per Incanto  I can't wait to see their babies run here in NZ. |
Jimmy's younger half-brother has been named - Chouxshine!
But he hasn't even had a trial yet, so we might not see him for a while. |
Nice name!
Is Eagle Mountain over there or have I lost my mind? |

Thanks for that! I hope he does well.
Not sure about Eagle Mountain - I haven't heard anything about him coming here. |
A photo of Jimmy's public workout at the Hastings races last week.
![]() Looks good! |
He looks great!!!!!
Fantastic to see this. :) |
Finalists for the awards for 2010-11...
My picks are in bold. :) 2YO: Anabandana Antonio Lombardo Fort Lincoln 3YO: Jimmy Choux King's Rose Lion Tamer Scarlett Lady We Can Say It Now SPRINTER: Coup Align Keep The Peace Mufhasa Wall Street MIDDLE DISTANCE HORSE: Booming Keep The Peace Red Ruler Wall Street STAYER: Bruce Almighty Harris Tweed Showcause Titch HORSE OF THE YEAR: Anabandana Antonio Lombardo Booming Bruce Almighty Coup Align Fort Lincoln Harris Tweed Jimmy Choux Keep The Peace King's Rose Lion Tamer Mufhasa Red Ruler Scarlett Lady Showcause Titch Wall Street We Can Say It Now |
I think I'd want Antonio Lombardo for 2YO... I agree of course on Jimmy and Mufhasa... Wall Street too (but boy those 3 in the midle distance category are all exceptional).
I love Bruce and Harris soooo much but am a little surprised to see them here(!!!)... STAYER: Bruce Almighty Harris Tweed Showcause Titch I'd say Titch and then Jimmy for HOY of course. Looking at these names... these were some of the best horses and races of the past year. Wow you guys have some incredible horses over there. NZ racing needs a press agent or something! |
Wow, I had a HUGE surprise today. I went to the Ruakaka races, expecting it to be a quiet little day...
After the second race, all of these horses came out and did a public workout - Keep The Peace, Roi d'Jeu, My Scotsgrey, Showcause and Mufhasa! Mufhasa looked amazing. He wanted to go so much faster. He had his head right down all the way around the track, lunging forward with each stride. I think Sam Spratt would have had sore arms afterwards! |
Oh my God you must have been dying!!!
How cool.. you are soooooo lucky! Jealous! Hey before I forget when are the awards presented? |

Second... you will be doing a 2011 / 2012 thread right? :) Third... ed is this THE Bulginbaah??? The old man??? I love him! I mean I seriously doubt he'd beat the kids here but he's a nice boy and isn't he kinda campaigned in the opposite manner of our good Sir Slick? Is this him or a horsie with a very similar named? |
It's the same Bulginbaah. He's 11 years old now! He's had 90 starts for 22 wins, 16 seconds and 11 thirds.
He has run in this race, the Foxbridge Plate, in each of the last five years. These have been his results in the Foxbridge: 1st, 1st, 4th, 2nd (by a nose), 1st. Great old horse. :) I will do a 2011-12 thread! I should start that soon actually. |
Yes you should and thanks for answering cause suddenly I thought well no I spelled his name wrong and it's someone else and I look like a moron as usual. :D
Can the final word of this thread be Jimmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmy? YOU post it! :p |
Thrilled Fritzy Boy won but they only list the first 3 finishers so where did Katie finish?
Bulginbaah? Thanks! |
Replay: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhLPdHnB-_c
Fritzy was brilliant - so easy! Nice efforts by Fleur de Lune and Smoulder to be 2nd and 3rd. I thought Katie looked fat before the race, and I think she just didn't quite have the fitness today. She was right in it until halfway down the stretch, when she hit a wall. It was an off track as well, and she's never liked those. She'll be better next time. The news about Bulginbaah isn't good. :( He didn't run well, and he looked a bit sore after the race. It sounds like he's probably going to be retired. That's not official yet, but I think this is the end of a great and very long career. |
"... but away goes Fritzy Boy!" :tro:
So awesome to see him show how good he is! Poor katie... next time! As far as the old man... last time I couldn't find a full result it was Arakti so I'll be happy to see this one retire cause the alternative... well... Hope he's feeling okay today. Thank God racing is starting up again over there! New thread! New thread! |
Jimmy Choux: New Zealand's 2010-11 Horse of the Year. :D
