Jusat incredible, awesome, beautiful, God this horse..... it's always a thrill to watch him. :)
|
I love how in the close-up replay in that video you can see him put one ear up. "Is that all?" :D
|
Hahahaha you're right! :D
So ed... does Mufhasa add the "King" part onto his name and run (3rd, as usual?! :tro: :) ) in the Ryder Stakes again or does he stay home? |
He's there! :) I just mentioned him in the Golden Slipper thread actually, before I looked in here. Wall Street's in there too. So we have two very good chances in that race this year.
The lovely Anabandana goes for another G1 here in NZ this Saturday in the Sires' Produce Stakes... 53612 Fort Lincoln 9 85 56.0 Jonathan Riddell Lisa Latta, Awapuni 54219 Antonio Lombardo 11 80 56.0 Sam Spratt Peter McKay, Matamata 53517 Savabill 12 78 56.0 Hayden Tinsley John Sargent, Matamata 53823 Chateauneuf Dupape 5 75 56.0 James McDonald (a) John Sargent, Matamata 21X36 Bespoke 6 74 56.0 Jason Bridgman, Matamata 13502 Brackenwood 10 74 56.0 Darryl Bradley Lisa Latta, Awapuni 134 Distill 4 74 56.0 Robert Hannam Roydon Bergerson, Awapuni 4115 Shuka 8 74 56.0 Michael Coleman Peter & Dawn Williams, Riccarton Park 23111 Anabandana 2 86 54.5 Opie Bosson Don Sellwood, Cambridge 122 Beejay Belle 13 75 54.5 Leith Innes Murray & Bjorn Baker, Cambridge 10463 Queen Boudicca 7 74 54.5 Vinnie Colgan Jason Price, Matamata 33201 Dowager Queen 1 69 54.5 Michael Walker Graeme & Debbie Rogerson, Tuhikaramea 3X12 Simply Magic 3 69 54.5 Lisa Allpress Murray & Bjorn Baker, Cambridge |
Cool I didn't know that about Wall Street et al!
Why do I like Antonio Lombardo again? :D :wf Didn't he have a really nice win? |
He did have a very nice win in a G3 two starts back, and he never runs a bad race. Ana beat him last time, but he probably has the best chance of turning it around.
|
Thanks for keeping track of who I like. :D
Any word on our good Sir? Thanks, ed. |
He's running AGAIN this weekend, this time in the G2 Awapuni Gold Cup.

Hahahaha oh my God are you kidding???!!!
Yea! I'm posting this cause I want to see it again... ...the 2010 Awapuni Gold Cup... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLuLYhjfSlI So I'm trying to keep this straight, ed... Sir Slick has run in the last 4 editions and won three of the four? I think Vosne Romanee is like always right there! Good luck to him, to VR, Red Ruler, Capecover and Agamemnon. Upsala and Atapi... not to keep torturing you with requests for updates but just a reminder... any news on these two is always appreciated! GO SIR SLICK! |

But I'm sorry to say it wasn't his day today. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6xaWZoxgPE Happy for the winner. He's a really good horse who never gets the credit he deserves. That's 13 wins for him - 9 in stakes races! I think you'll like these ones more... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85tq20QAxqo The Ana and Antonio show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SC-QeuZleE0 And is this a new star? 6 starts for 4 wins. This was her first stakes race: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJ824FBU-k4 As for Atapi - I believe he's been retired. |

That was fantastic! Which one won??? Quote:
Happy to know that he's probably retired. I'd say he's done enough. THanks ed. This was another time I just wanted to hear results from you instead of trying to find them cause it's much more fun and man I am still just floored cause i thought you'd say well yeah Upsala... maybe another nice barrier trial but that's about it. Stunned and just very happy and once again, what a joy to watch the amazing Sir Slick even if... |

|
I played it twice but it's 3:40 am here so really can't put any louder...
Barinka / Smoulder / who? I haven't seen JImmys race yet... |
Fleur de Lune was 3rd - a 3yo filly having her first try in a stakes race!
It was a surprising result, but Barinka is a very good mare, and this was a strong performance. Banchee was 7th, but only 1.9 lengths away. Keep The Peace is going out for a break - Shaune Ritchie thinks she must have had enough of racing for a while, just like Jimmy. I'm still proud of Jimmy - 10 starts this season for 7 wins (3 G1). He won the Hawke's Bay Guineas, 2000 Guineas, Great Northern Guineas, Wellington Stakes, Waikato Guineas, NZ Derby and Rosehill Guineas - no horse has ever won all those races before. He was just tired today. A few months off and he'll be good as new. |
At least the Derby winner was a NZ-bred, the filly Shamrocker, by O'Reilly, one of your stalwarts, from the fine old NZ family tracing to Lady Gwen.
|
Remember Imabayboy? He was a really good 3yo last year and ran in the Derby.
Well, he won a big race in Macau last weekend. :) http://www.odt.co.nz/sport/racing/15...es-ride-dating |

That's an awesome win by Veyron (8 wins now from 13 starts). But oh Sir Slick, I wish someone else trained you! Another amazing G1 3rd placing for the old man. |
Well this just made today a whole lot better.
WOw he is just incredible. ... and he was so far back! What was that about? Nice effort by the 4th place finisher too and of course the winner. All of them! Just amazing. :) |
They're advertising a job as a TV presenter on the NZ racing channel - it's my dream job, and I think I might have a shot of getting it.
But the problem is I'd have to move to Hamilton. Nothing wrong with that city, but I love Auckland - most of my friends are here, and it's an awesome place. And I really like my current job of typing TV subtitles for the deaf - it's rewarding, I have great friends there, and I'm trying to build up the courage to ask one of them out! So I don't know what to do. It's a tough one. I filmed an audition for that job today anyway, and I was nervous, but I think it went pretty well. I don't know if they'll like it, though. |
Anyway, a nice G3 field this Saturday in the Hawke's Bay Cup.

Moving away like that can suck but you'd be able to go home a lot... right? Courage to ask one of them out??? Geez ed I'd fly halfway around the world haha I'm sure she'll want to go out with you. :) Had no idea about writing subtitles and that is wonderful but ed... you need to do this if you're offered the position! Who knows... maybe you could start a trend and have the first subtitles for the deaf on the racing broadcasts! Post the fields when you can!!! |

Not Fritzy Boy's day today. The Hombre was second in his race.
Here's the Cup. It was an unforgettable race, but not in a good way... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IdeOh-rIYZI  Horse and jockey were okay. But that's unbelievable. |
Oh my God!
Unbelievable!!! |
Yes I will alert you every time I see one from out your way won over here. :D
No pp's and no idea if he's a new arrival or not, but yea (even though he beat my old man Bold Chieftain home)... http://www1.drf.com/drfPDFChartRaces...=20110430&RN=7 |
Wow, thanks for letting me know! I remember that horse. He had two wins from 7 starts here.
|
Hey ed any idea why Upsala scratched the other day?
Any word on the job? (Fingers crossed!). Wanted to know if you heard about this... Fairy King Prawn relocating to NZ (yea!). I guess the weather was bad and they had to cancel the big farewell ceremony at Sha Tin this weekend but he's being relocated and was wondering if you had any idea where he's going to be living so I can beg you to go and visit him for me. :D |
That's great news! I'll try to find out where he's going. It's a shame that Sunline has passed away, so the great rivals can't meet again.
No word on the job yet. I don't know why Upsala scratched, but I see he's entered again tomorrow. Hope he runs well! |
Hey ed I'm in the middle of moving (well at the end of it... finally!) and I know I missed your birthday so I'm sorry about that and hope it was fantastic but I don't want to embarrass you by doing a thread that is SOOOOO stupidly (is that a word?) late. :D
Aaaarrgh I missed him? How did he do? Hey how's Imabayboy these days? Too many to wonder about. :) |
Haha, thanks! It was a good day. Hope the move went well. :)
Upsala was 4th. He closed really nicely at the end, and I thought maybe the jockey left it just a little bit too late. But it was a nice run. I haven't heard anything about Imabayboy for a while, sorry. |
We're gonna see a record broken in amazing style this season.
The most wins ever in a season by a jockey in NZ is 197. Today, May 30 - with still two months of the season to go - James McDonald has 193. He's incredible. |
Fantastic!
