I hate OTB, lol. I made a shlep there only to see that, for some unknown reason, they weren't showing GP today. I've always liked BUTG - and he was coming out of a key race. I'm glad Bomber Boy ran well - next time?

The 7 split it.

At Santa Anita, Wilburn, a HUGE son of Bernardini and a half to Beethoven just walloped his field. He showed a very good turn of foot and drew away to win by about 5, 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:13 and change. He's out of a Carson City mare so who knows how far he wants to go, but as the analyst on the racing channel said, so was Barbaro. No, I'm not comparing them at ALL, just saying that maybe this guy will take after his sire. He was the sales topper at the April 2 year old sales last year

No idea, something always seems to be wrong with him., He missed 2 weeks of works, worked on 2/26 and hasn't worked since. They were going to take it slowly with him anyway, but he won't be running anytime soon, not with the way he can't work a few weeks in a row withou being stopped on.

Even if that's true, since he'll never have to run that distance most likely, he doesn't have to worry about it.

Somewhere I said I hope they dont go to Lezcano or Kent. I think Gomez is perfect.

I guess it really doesn't matter. I have no clue what to expect from him in the Florida Derby based on his FOY, which was pretty awful. I'll be happy with a good performance at this point.

You mean FOY? I'm sorry to say I thought it was, but I'm not worried because what's going to be is going to be. I was stunned after the race and to some extent I still am. He's kind of been an afterthought to me recently given that I was really happy with Stay Thirsty's return. We'll see........I'm kind of torn. On one hand, I don't want to give up on a horse I thought had huge potential after just one start. On the other, I have serious doubts about this colt's ability to rate.....among other things.

78 Beyers for Dance City and Cal Nation...

Indian Charlie 03-20-2011 01:05 PM

The recently run third race at GP today was pretty interesting.

I was surprised that the winner was 1/5 and more surprised that they cut him back in distance.

Anyways, the first two finishers both ran better races than I expected, but I am finding it difficult to really get a good gauge on that race. The track sure does seem to be running faster than usual.
