Your thought process is all wrong here!! You can not assume anything!! you go with what you know and what you know is that you have AA. Do you make assumptions when figuring your odds on any kind of draw? Stick with the known facts. AA is the favorite hand whether you are heads up or against 9 others. Folding preflop is simply playing scared!! Also one is not a very good player if they can't get away from any hand post flop. And this is where the problem is for most players. They can play pre-flop but have no clue post flop and this is where i make a killing!!

Hey there poker pro. How's the family?

So it's worth it to hop in a $50 buy-in tournament even though I don't have any tournament experience?

Do you have cash game experience? If so then yes it's worth it as long as the structure of the game is fair. That's a big factor in deciding whether a tourney is worth it.

I have zero experience playing poker in a casino, but I know how poker works, etc.

Do you have any experience online or in home games?

Honestly, if you don't have a problem with the 50 bucks or the structure of the game then you should play. Experience is the key and you can't get it if you don't play.

With zero experience you have approximately zero chance of winning, so why throw away the $50? Take the $50 and play a low limit game, no more than $3-$6. Or find a tourny with a smaller buy-in so that your $50 gets you multiple tries.

I have played many live tournaments and limit games over the years in Atlantic city, my only advice is real simple stay away from thos 2/4 3/6 games no one ever gets out and the play is very frustrating much better game is 1/5 NL or 2/5 no limit and if you have the bankroll any game higher, if you havent ever played in a tourny the first time is daunted and Dunbar is correct you have 0 chance of winning but you have to start somewhere. And by the way just my 2 cents I dont care how many people are in the game or what the bet is I am not folding A-A ever pre-flop simple as that I am ahead of every player at the table at that point. But like another poster mention now post-flop that is when you have to know when to hold them and know when to fold them and please dont fall for the old check and raise because you are a prime candaite for that trick.
