Default Mid-Saratoga Jockey Check-Ups

Not unexpectedly, the Brothers Ortiz have skipped away from the pack with both cracking the 20 win and $2M earnings mark. I was surprised to see Luis Saez standing with 17 wins just shy of $2M, but he has been deadly on the turf this season.

Javier Castellano is also on 17 wins, but he has only had 89 mounts this season compared to the 115+ on the other three. Somehow, it feels like we are seeing the changing of the guard here in New York as the younger jockeys get the top calls.

Junior Alvarado has put together 10 wins from only 73 mounts which is a pretty solid job. Ricardo Santana and Kendrick Carmouche are making ends meet given limited chances. Chris Landeros at 4-for-43 is a work in progress and the Crystalle discussion from Sunday will likely go on for the remaining weeks of the season.

Joel Rosario and Jose Lezcano are also both riding well.

On the disappointing side, Manny Franco has only 8 wins from 109 mounts and has hit the board with less than 1/3rd of his rides. Dylan Davis at 3 wins from 75 mounts must be having winter season dreams at this point.

Julien Leparoux has again proven to be a bet-against rider in New York sporting a weak 2-for-25 mark.

Notice who is missing from this list? John Velazquez at 5-for-65 is obviously now decreasing his mount count, and does not seem to have the live firsters that he once did.
