Default 11/22 (DeD): Jackpot, Princess (G3's), Mile, Treasure Chest, Orleans, more

http://www.drf.com/news/13-pre-enter...ot-17-princess

Where else can you see Big Drama & Goldencents as 2YOs? Attended my first one in 2006. Missed 2009 race due to snow!

In 2010, Delta Downs moved card from December Friday night one to Saturday afternoon one. Improved exposure, improved handle, solid undercard. Plus, afternoon card has drawn bigger crowds including families.

So, please join me in Vinton, Louisiana, for another fun-filled Delta Jackpot Day!

Went last year with my wife...It was bitter cold, but it was a great day of racing.

They need to increase the volume on Don Stevens microphone though.

TCB has perfect running style for this bullring. Strike the front on extra long front stretch, control pace, and scoot home in front on short home stretch.

Hope Lucas sends horses for undercard, too. Quality of Delta Mile has improved in recent years. Weather should rebound to 60s next week. Arctic Blast arrives tonight.

I'm guessing she doesn't have a whole lot left in the tank for this race, but we'll see. Trying to cement divisional honors I assume.

Isn't she a major bet-against in her next race?

If it rains, without looking at the PPs Temper Mint Patty has a great shot to win.

Rain, rain, go away! Forecast has gotten worse with each passing day. Latest one is 100% chance of precipitation. Thunderstorms, possibly severe ones.

It's Louisiana so we will hope for change. Rain or shine this is always fun day. Treasure Chest & Delta Mile have attracted graded stakes class fields again this year.

Delta surface, aka Sabine Sand, plays well with horses exiting synthetic contests. Plus, several trainers have turf horses entered. Birdbirdistheword triumphed in 2006 Jackpot exiting two turf races. Live horses may come from dirt, syn, or grass.

Good luck to all!

Thanks, Steve, for shining spotlight on Delta Downs this week. I started attending in 2006 to support their recovery from Hurricane Rita devastation. Nine years removed from storm, this place and its people have triumphed!

Enjoyed interviews & discussions with Don, Mary & Ed. Sorry NTamm was absent this week.

Continue your excellent work. Next year get away from snow and join us. Jackpot Barbie has nice ring!

Just curious.....

Is there some kind of qualifying for the Delta Jackpot?

Only 10 can run, but with a $1M purse, way more than 10 are going to be "interested".

How are the final 10 determined?

First preference goes to Golden Actor for winning the prep, the Jean Laffite; 2nd preference to horses 1-2-3 in G1 or G2 races; 3rd preference to horses that were in the money in any graded stake; 4th determinant is lifetime earnings.

Thanks Steve. I knew there had to be some kind of qualifying for the race but I hadn't seen it spelled out anywhere.

Much appreciated!
