Back 9 here I have never seen so many terrible shots out there. Just awful play which is kind of amazing and amusing at the same time

Fascinating insight

Have you considered broadcasting? You really have a face for TV

Not the PGA but DJ should demolish the field of has beens, never were’s, and ambulance cases in the LIV.

So far this year in the PGA, he’s tied for 25th, missed the cut, tied for 9th, tied for 12th, missed the cut, tied for 59th, and (yet again) missed the cut. And that current form towers above the midgets he’ll face in London.

I know this is supposed to shake the foundations of professional golf but other than throwing a lot of blood money at some marginal pro’s this looks like it should be broadcast on a YouTube channel.

Oh, wait…

On another Note. Can you really call yourself a Patriot while letting LIV have an event at your course? Let the mental gymnastics begin defending it.

Nothing shakes the foundations of PGA golf quite like Charl Schwartzle dueling it out with Henri Du Pleiss with Peter Uihlein lurking…

I literally had to look up the correct spelling on all of them.

One of the great things about the PGA is that it’s a strict meritocracy. Steph Curry gets paid the same whether he mails it in or plays like he did Friday. That’s true through all team sports. You’ll see golfers check and recheck putts when they are +4 late on day 2 because the cut is +3. Miss the cut, you don’t get paid.

The guaranteed money and appearance fees (all the guys on the LIV were paid to sign contracts) lessens the game.

Like you said, Phil didn’t really care about +10. He’s made a bundle regardless of mailing it in.

That’s before you consider the butchers funding this circus.

You can't blame the players. After thinking about this I would play it differently than the PGA. I wouldn't ban the players. I'd allow them to compete in the Majors IF they qualified. What I would do is say to the Networks and Streamers (Think AMAZON) and say if you broadcast this you no longer are eligible to broadcast our product. And advertisers if you advertise we are no longer interested in your dollars (Think AWS).. Eventually the Saudi's will get tired of throwing their money away because a special someone was pissed off that the PGA won't play at his course because they didn't want to associate with someone trying to overthrow the government.

The decision about playing in the majors isn’t up to the PGA. All 4 are independent businesses with PGA affiliations. It’s similar to the college bowls relation to the NCAA. Their decisions (The Masters in particular) will weigh heavily on how hard the PGA can push against players in LIV events.

The US Open has already decided that players on the LIV who otherwise qualify can play this year. It’s a business decision for each. They obviously want to maintain a good relationship with the PGA while presenting the best product possible.

The Ryder Cup is the exception but that’s only every other year.

A friend of mine watched the stream and mentioned the shotgun start and lack of advertising. He liked it. I imagine they aren’t too worried about sponsors at this point but I can imagine some hesitation in boardrooms about supporting LIV given the backers.

Greg Norman’s press conference at the start of the tournament was interrupted for security to throw a journalist out who asked about human rights in Saudi Arabia. That could be a problem for their marketing department.

The us open in Brookline mass. Took a little C. Smith at 20-1. They are using the same 4 holes from the primrose, but not in the usual order. 8 under wins it.

I’m a little late but I took:

Shane Lowry 30-1 ($20)
Davis Riley 75-1 ($20)
Davis Riley +110 over Mito Pereira (full tournament) ($20)

My tier pool I took:

1) Sam Burns
2)Will Zalatoris
3) Shane Lowry
4) Seamus Power
5) Keegan Bradley
6) Davis Riley

Top 4 scores count. You get the worst score Saturday and Sunday if you don’t get 4 through the cut. $100 each. 6 in pool.

I’m +1 after 1st round. Leader is -1. Last place is +3.

Added a $20 bet on Davis Riley at 150-1 to go with my pre-tee 75-1. He’s within 4 of the lead and although unlikely to win, the odds are a HUGE overlay. No one within 4 strokes after 36 holes should be 100-1, much less more.

Nice get and Good Luck. as you probably know if you are going to bet Golf you need to shop for odds. There are some massive discrepancies. For instance The difference between Hi and low offer for Kegan Bradley was 35-1. I use this

Have to admit I haven’t been doing this for golf. I have access to William Hill online and two different books that might have slightly different odds in person (Atlantis and Peppertree). For golf, I haven’t bothered heading to the books.

In an odd twist, much of the country has much better access to online books than in Nevada. Neither Fanduel or DraftKings can operate here legally. BetMGM is an option but your first deposit has to in person. They don’t have a physical presence in Northern Nevada and much as I love Las Vegas I haven’t been lately.

Circa Sports will open a book at a new casino here in August and I’ll get their app when it does. In the meantime, I’ve been taking or leaving what William Hill offers.

Yeah Online is much easier to shop.. I have 6 books I use and they all offered great matches so I still am playing some free bets. Circa is great for golf betting. Look at Rick Gehman @Rickrungood. He is a very good Golf Data Guy based in Vegas and plays out of CIRCA.

Wind picking up at the Open . Gonna take a little shot the Rory makes a charge at +1000 . Same price as before the tourney and he’s only 3 back, which on this course is worth a shot

I’m taking a different approach to the British Open (or “The Open” if you’re a upper class twit)

Just 1 bet pre-tournament. I took Shane Lowry (again) at 25-1. Shots gained on approach (i.e. iron play) is the key stat for most tournaments and he ranks in top 10. He won this at a different course in 2019 and was top 20 last year.

His missed cut at US Open was the anomaly in an otherwise great year (minus an actual victory). Top 10 in Irish Open and then took a week off.

Odds aren’t a HUGE overlay but he’s got a better than 4% chance to win. I’d be shocked if he misses cut.

May bet some heads up matches when those are available later. Will definitely make another tournament bet after cut.

Took Hutton +105 over Fleetwood.

And in what I admit is probably a bad bet, winners score over 272.5 +135

Last winner at St. Andrews shot a 273 but changes since have made the course a little easier. Basically a bet on bad weather. Always a good idea.

Weather looks Benign. Like McIlroy a lot but not at 10-1 for Golf, 15-1 would be my minimum.

Code:
Player Bet	Book Odds	Will Pay
Will Zalatoris $100.00 Bet365 30.0	$3,100.00
Ryan Fox $25.00 Draftkings	80.0	$2,025.00
Louis Oosthuizen	$50.00 Bet365 50.0	$2,550.00
Sunjae Im $25.00 Bet365 75.0	$1,900.00
Corey Conners $25.00 Bet365 100.0	$2,525.00
Billy Horschel $25.00 Bet365 125.0	$3,150.00
Adam Scott $50.00 Fanduel 95.0	$4,800.00
Justin Rose $25.00 Bet365 80.0	$2,025.00
Bet365 Gave me a free $10 Bet on the Open so I will use it on an Exacta McIlroy / Zalatoris at an underlayed 150-1
