Near disaster at Charles Town Saturday
Surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet. It was a miracle only one horse was killed. (RIP Frisky Dixie)
"The horse, Winningaswespeak, clipped heels and fell on the clubhouse turn, almost midway through the 1 1/16-mile race. She then got to her feet and ran up the stretch, eventually colliding on the turn for home with Frisky Dixie, whose jockey did not see the loose horse racing along the rail. A trailing horse in the $5,000 claiming race, Fab Autumn Girl, tripped over Frisky Dixie, throwing her jockey. No riders were seriously injured but Frisky Dixie, a 3-year-old West Virginia-bred filly owned and trained by Donald Shuler, was euthanized as a result of a fractured shoulder suffered in the collision." http://www.paulickreport.com/news/ra...-asDE.facebook |
