I guess the Springboard Mile winner should have run in the Grade 1 at Los Al today.

It will be interesting to see where he chooses to go on the Derby trail. I'm not sure which tracks are members of what coalitions, but it looks like Fair Grounds allows their 2yos to receive lasix (see the Sugar Bowl entries), so I'd imagine the LeComte, Risen Star, and Louisiana Derby will do the same.

The dilemma becomes should they take him off now or keep him on until he racks up enough Derby points to get a spot in the starting gate?

At any rate, they could have probably given him "anti-lasix" for the Los Al Futurity and he'd still win over that field. They would have only needed to worry about Doc Allred cancelling the races and closing down the track...

Looks like my point was moot. Firstly, post-race the trainer said he was likely for the Fair Grounds races. Secondly, you don't get Derby points if you run on lasix so he has to come off if he wants to make the field.

Didn't know that. Glad you pointed it out.

Fincher said he'll come off Lasix for his FG prep tries, but felt it was an important precaution to keep the big May foal on it for the stretch out in 2nd career start.

I thought the idea when you name a horse after a famous person was for the horse to be good.
