that's so great, gotta love a kid's perspective - win or lose tell them their thoughts were appreciated (and what a great teacher they have)! good luck and safe trips to Pal today, will be good to see him back on the track...

Is it me, or did it seem like Pal was going well on the backside only to wrangled back for some reason? For a second, it looked like he was being pulled up or something. It just seemed like an odd way to ride him

Very encouraging return for the colt today.. Was utterly professional pre-race with all traces of the usual paddock and saddling antics gone. Was good with the pony too. Clearly was a short horse and was tired tonight back at Belmont, but Gary very pleased overall with where he is and how he came back. Obviously, the Tomas kid was herky-jerky with him on top of everything else, but he wasn't getting the money today with that winner dominating. NYB-MSW on Saturday, May 11 (Peter Pan Day) at Belmont going 7f-T... Should be perfect! And Junior Alvarado likely back on for that.

That's awesome. I think horse racing is a great way to improve kids' math skills, since you have to think in something other than base ten, what with miles being divided into eight furlongs and 12 seconds being basically the base number from which you work out how fast a furlong went.

The gambling part of it is good for learning math, too, but I imagine parents might have issues about that.
