What I don't understand is how members of this forum could come up with 9 pages of names - some of them very good and not yet taken or reserved on the JC list, and NONE of them were accepted? And, I don't remember seeing anyone suggesting Spondulix. Personal opinion, of course, but It's a dumb name and the vast majority of people are not going to know it's antiquated meaning.

Exercise in futility calling on the troops to help name these horses.

Just because a prospective name entered into the online registry doesn't have a direct match DOESN'T mean it gets approved. People that have named horses will tell you it's a frustrating process. Both the JoBurg and Rockport had repeated declines. There are any number of reasons a name gets turned down, and as a perfect example, every one that had a South African/Afrikaans word involved in it, was rejected. Getting submissions in before Feb. 1 was the priority, and I always throw in an obscure word (Rampillion was one) to gaurantee a stop to the process. Just like Harold Carmichael was a working name for Lloydobler, Spondulix and Corybant can be temporary names until something more universally loved comes through.

There's a name suggested in the thread, and a variation of it, that is under review.

^^^^ Do you see what the VCU Basketball Team has done after each of these huge wins ? (now in the final 4.) It's called a cooking dance, and it comes from this LIL B guy's "stuff." Face it, it's working. They're a loose bunch....Violinist Eric Stanley (who is gunna be one of the most famous musicians this country has ever had) goes to VCU. We both would like for someone to name a horse "I COOK, I CHEF" in honor of the VCU's Basketball achievements this year. All we can do is ask.

Me: "I suggested someone name their racehorse " I COOK, I CHEF,"

Eric Stanley: "Omg yess"
