And you have just placed Howard on the Golden State Warriors....

They are losing that tall Euro with teh crazy hair to free agency this year, starts with a B....But yeah, they would be dominate with Dwight Howard, but there are alot of teams that would be.

You put Dwight Howard with Nocini, Deng, Derrick Rose and Gordon and you would score 130 a game

Scav's Howard is still very raw.
He has little to no post moves.

He basically cleans up missed shots
because of his atheticism. Also having
him on the court during a close game and
just fouling him after he gets a rebound????
He is a terrible FT shooter.

I really like his athleticism, but he still
is not close to what he could be as an
actual basketball player.

We have to have shooters and guys that
can defend pick and roll out high for 3's. Some of these
foreign teams have played together for a while
and they really know each other.

Wade and Carmello are the questions for me.
Is Wade in shape? I would prefer another shooter
in addition to Redd. A guy who can score long range
right off the bench.

Rose plays d ? Deng isnt exactly Bruce Bowen. Nocioni lets the guy he is guarding score so they get the ball back quicker. Gordon has a similar philosophy.

Carmello is a question is what manner? He is an impossible matchup. He isnt there for his defense or passing. I am thinking that Wade will show up ready. We can pick the team apart all we want but outside of being thin in the middle they have all the parts.

And if turns an ankle or gets in foul trouble...

Tim Duncan sat on the bench for 1/2 of the olympics in 2004 because the refs blew the whistle on him for looking at people wrong.

I like Bosh and Boozer is tough but neither is a true center.

........and there is the reason NBA players struggle playing the international game. They just don't adjust to the International Ref's when early fouls are called thinking they can just play NBA ball and things will be what they are used to November-June. Spain and Greece are still very much the teams that play the international game as well as the United States because those guys grew up playing those rules and style.

They could have used another big body to combat early foul trouble but just don't have such a player on the roster.

NBA players never struggled with the international game when we were wiping the floor with them. Lets face it, the rest of the world is alot better than they used to be and we have to actually prepare a bit anc construct a team not just an all star team. The 2004 team and some of those world championship teams that lost were poorly constructed and our own arrogance got us beat. This team is built differently, is young yet experienced and has players that not only have played toether in an olympic style tourney but respect the opposition. Coach k pretty much tipped his hand in the press conference when he said something to the effect that they will be putting pressure full court to make the other teams play our style and not just play zone. Hence the three point guards and one center.

If Howard has 2 fouls 4 minutes into each game they have a problem like Duncan did in 2004 it won't matter if they are playing uptempo, 3/4 time or the bermuda triangle offense. If they don't have SOME big guy presence on the floor because of fouls called by refs this team is not used they will have a tough time beating these teams they lost to in 2004 and 2006. Saying "we'll have them playing our tempo" sounds like a little presumptive to me given recent history

Would you like to back up your opinion with a wager?

I was thinking you were going to give me odds considering your pessimism towards the USA's team.

Damn...Beat me to it.

I think they win every game they play by at least double digits, including the medal round.
