Default NJBets huge news

Effective today all bets handled by TVG. Important to note that Exchange betting is legal in NJ and TVG's parent has the platform already where NJ Bets hadn't even entered the bidding process for development yet.

I'm very curious to see this new platform. One thing that concerns me is that the wagering cards used at the tracks are now going to be obsolete (at least for the near term). I was talking to a teller at Freehold last night (made one last deposit with the card) and asked him about making deposits/withdrawls and he mentioned that you would need to see a specific NJBETS teller at the track. Even worse was that he mentioned that Freehold wasn't going to put an extra teller on just for this service. Not sure what the Meadowlands and or Monmouth's plans are.

For me this is not good, becuase that's how I make all my deposits and withdrawls. I refuse to do anything online with credit cards. So this could significantly put a dent into my racing obsession. I'm wondering how this is going to affect on track wagering as well.

Jim, you finally going to get your Rainbow 6 bet?

Matt.. There seems to be plenty of options available for funding your account. I am sure you will find one. The Greendot card looks like something that will interest you... I think a lot of folks will be complaining about wagering fees (WTF?). I should easily be able to clear the threshold for having them rebated. As far as the rainbow 6 goes I won't look at it until it is over a million and paying 5-6 K conso's routinely.

It's funny, I didn't even think of the fees. Where did you see that and the rebate structure?

Hey - FYI there is no charge per bet AT PRESENT ! There is also no $125
signup bonus as on their regular TVG site. They also donot list Freehold as a deposit site, just M,Monmouth and favorites. I also wonder if the NY tracks will be shown as they also state some tracks will be unavailable.

Here's some background on it all.

Thanks for posting. Going to have to sort through all this stuff when I get home.

For the record, I never really had any problems/issues with the NJBETS platform. I know it stunk not having a rebate program and obviously there's an issue with NYRA, but for me it was always an efficent and easy platform to use. I am a little skeptical about all these changes.

NJ Bets is still running the show and they are the monopoly TVG is just the betting platform. You think our politcos will look after us horse players by giving us a choice?

Jim

I think 4 NJBETS is only running the show in name to keep the monopoly and prevent use of other ADWs for NJ residents. I think this is totally a TVG operation otherwise why the TVG fees. 4NJBETs could have just paid them a fee to do it, this way in is a Win - Win 4NJBETs get to keep their monopoly, jettison their workforce and overhead; TVG gets to collect the fees and probably a little piece of the action while the NJ Bettor s get to pay the bill...who could argue with that.

j62 you are right about this state and 4bets and I am glad for the people that think this is great. But I think all the fee's suck. I just wish we could just choose what we want and not the state. The streaming on the smart phone is pretty cool.

Jim, sorry didn't see your question until this morning. I think I like the new platform, I was at my brother-in-laws wedding yesterday and I was able to play and watch from my I-Phone, which was very cool.
But truthfully speaking I really never had a problem with the old platform. I usually don't watch many races on the cpu, I would bet and then watch the races on TVG (on TV).
If the choices were keep the old platform with no rebates/rewards and smart phone capabilities and no fees versus the new platform with all the bells and whistles and fees, I would most definitely vote old. My handle isn't what it used to be (just don't have the time) and I find it very troublesome that I will eventually have to pay fees to wager my money on this game. In this case it actually could be a deal breaker for me.

Default rewards ?

First you have to signup on the website for the rewards on a link its not automatic, takes like 5 seconds. thats the good news. OTOH the rewards are anemic at best, for 2500 points you get $5, so $10k = $20.

Skymall minimum for gift certificate is 25,000 pts

Better than a stick in the eye like the old system of nada, but how about those rebates of 5-10 % that others get in rebate programs.

I don't think there is anyone out there liking the fees. I've gotten to the point of not obsessing about things I have no control over so I am just happy with the upgraded interface. Also being a bit selfish I should easily clear the handle figure to get them free so it is a non issue. I can understand those frustrated.

this is probably old news, but saw this on drf. I thought the change may have come due to the internet gambling law, but it may be related to this

It only took me 4 hours to get someone on the phone to get my new account number, and after 6/1 I will to pay a fee to place a bet. Now that sounds like a great deal. When I call my sportsbook they pick up the phone and you don't have to pay to bet.
