Default BC undercard

Have they drawn the SA under card for BC weekend yet? I am most interested but can't find anything yet.

Drawn but BC won't let the SA racing office release it.

Any idea when the embargo will be lifted?

Wouldn't want fans to actually have PPs early I guess. Strict California rule that no PP can go final until 22 hours before post time.

The first last year had five and the third race had six and the pick 5 handled just shy of $1 million. I think everything will be OK.

Besides that flaw, the card is usually awesome, but its just ridiculous they can't place the P5 in a better spot.

They have it as 9x5x13x10x10 and it could easily be 9x10x13x10x10. Hell, if they could have just had some flexible between days, they could have put a different race there.

And not to mention they are costing themselves money (less combos equals less bet equals less take)

I am not talking about handle and could care less about it because handle is there for ALL races on BC Day. As a bettor, I want large fields in the best bet available.

What is your concern, you wont get value on the bet now?

More combos makes it harder, and while I haven't seen PP's yet, I'm gonna assume that Flashback is gonna be 1/2 or 3/5 cause I don't even recognize the other names in the race.

well see how the parlay pays...you really have excuse not to hit it with a free square.

Second year in a row an undercard stakes on BC Saturday has drawn a five horse field. Also only nine in the Juvenile Turf Sprint is kind of alarming.

The same race drew 5 or 6 in 2003, seems like the same old thing to me. There are way too many graded stakes anymore to actually have too many horses point for a 150k race.

I guess the real issue I have is that the BC bitches about not having enough funds, yet they don't utilize the best betting day possible.

On the other side of that, I guess they really don't 'care' about the P5 because they have a minimal take on it with it being such a low takeout, so it actually makes some sense now from their perspective.

The BC doesn't have the same concerns that tracks have. The individual races will all handle well, with or without a Pick-5. However, the Pick-5 works for racetracks in that it also draws more attention to the earlier races, which have the lowest handles. This is not a concern on BC days.

That being said, given the overall field sizes in this Pick-5, I would think the possibility of a free square will make an almost unplayable sequence, reasonably playable, which will help pool size.

Aren't there 13 in the $150k G3 Twilight Friday and 13 in the $150k Sen. Maddy Saturday?

It's worth noting that the first race on Saturday is a 2YO sprint going down the hill - 9 runners. Can you confidently use anything but the all button for that race? I think the value is there even with a Flashback free space.

of course they don't, which explains why they keep having the races in cali, and ignore the tracks that have more attendance and handle.
