Default Firing Line

This is a pedigree and performance article I wrote about Firing Line after his Grade One, $500,000 Los Alamitos Futurity race.

It's probably best to take an easier route to Kentucky with this one. If I were the owner I'd send this one to Baffert, but it looks like he no longer uses Baffert

Yeah but at this rate doesnt look like he can beat Dortmund and we have already seen his best it looks like. A move to a better trainer like Baffert can only help, I no longer see any improvement with Callaghan

Of course he still uses Baffert. Punctuate, the Distorted Humor/Peppers Pride colt is Zetcher's.

He's had long associations with other trainers as well including Ben Cecil and Callaghan. John Shirreffs too.

Yeah.. He should move from Baffert. Other than Santa Anita Derbys, Pacific Classics, Acorns, Santa Monicas, CashCall and Del Mar Futuritys and another couple dozen stakes wins, Baffert hasn't done that well for him.

What kind of statement is this? Do you make this declaration with any knowledge of the relationship between the Baffert's and Zetcher's? Or is it just a "shoot from the hip" assumption in order to maintain a factually incorrect thread? It's Derby Trail season folks...let's make it count!

Maybe they just think Baffert is an ******* and would be better off with a different trainer?

Its just an opinion on a message board.

Some see horseracing more as a soap opera than a sport. The horses sans Zenyatta don't matter as much as the humans behind them.

But then again some see the Super Bowl as a party and a concert more than a game. The quality of the game is determined by the food spread and decorations at the party.

BTW Don't worry about who is in the derby. Just worry about what hat and outfit you're going to wear.

What do you think the Over/Under is on number of races American Pharoah runs in 2015?

It aint high. In fact, it may not even be a whole number.
