that's why assistance should be geared towards teaching people skills, furthering their education by sending to college, or a trade school so that they can get a job that will support them. giving someone money-that's all well and good. but a year later, how are they better off? how are they more able to take care of themselves? they're not.

Let's not go to pieces over the raising of the min. wage.

This is a favorite whipping boy of many.

Leave min.wage alone and worry about the sharks who conspire to sink the entire boat ...though it's a little late now.Dannie---stick to kinky sex topics---OK?

Raising the min wage will help sustain low-income families and make America a tiny bit fairer for all...certainly won't be popular among the wealthy and the right. We can argue economic theory all day, I see this as a philosophical issue...either one believes that everyone deserves a decent life or they choose to drink the right-wing Koolade. I agree that education is vital but nothing will ever change on this planet until the "haves" understand that the "have nots" are indeed their brothers and sisters and really care about the basic constructs of fairness/brotherhood/equality...won't happen in my lifetime, perhaps in my next incarnation...or the one after that...or the next.

i believe it has already been raised, and will go up again next year. problem is, the national min wage isn't really fair-it should be based on area-i doubt someone in l.a. can survive on the same wage as someone here in arkansas.

For what it's worth, and not too much I would think...I feel like the min. wage is a good thing.
