Thanks. I appreciate the response. If I ignore the stars and the selections, the rest makes much more sense.

Took a look at this last night and it looks great. I have been a weekend player and this has for over 35 years and have learned to change with the times and this looks like a new option. Thanks

OMG, get a life people--your frigging identity is bound up with your browser? IE has been losing market share like forever. And as PCs fade away, it will only continue. Does anybody have IE on their phone or tablet?

Make that 55% but you having worked in the industry for 30+ already know that. A typo I guess. On another note I would think these guys are on the ball and are targeting the mobile market and html-5 so any issues with IE now are likely to disappear with upgraded versions of IE offering more HTML5 support.

Non-mobile web browser statistics on Wikimedia

Chrome   46.02%
Internet Explorer   20.47%
Firefox   17.71%
Others   7.25%
Opera   5.45%

I guess I overstated it's usage. If you make it up to Saratoga this summer you should drop me a private note and maybe we can discuss all your nasty comments to me. Doubt that will happen

Wikimedia you and your constant threats to all who call you out are laughable.

Blinkers are generally a speed enhancer and can sometimes fire up a horse early on, but they come in different cup sizes and it's very tough to quantify how much of an impact they will have on a horses early speed.

The pace projector is nice because it gives a quick and clean look at how the pace is expected to unfold based on past data... but it does not take into account the human factor or equipment changes like 1st blinkers. That part, is left up to the bettor.

The human factor is the other main thing that's hard to quantify. Jockeys, either by their own choice or by trainer instruction, can hustle a horse early and get it to show uncharacteristic levels of early speed. Just as they can grab a hold of the horse, and rate it along through the early stages, going much slower than it typically would.

If a jockey/trainer thinks that a race is paceless or thinks that the track is speed biased... they're more likely to ride aggressive early. In situations where the pace figures to be contested, and the strongest horses are mid-pack or closer types...you'll often see multiple jockeys trying to hold their horses through the early stages.

Basically, the human factor and equipment changes are left up to the bettor.

A great example of the usefulness of the pace projector in a high profile race just happened with the Queen's Plate last Sunday:

At just a glance, it was crystal clear that Midnight Aria was projected to be absolutely isolated on a loose early lead. As it turned out, he was able to glide along on a loose early lead with no pressure. Midnight Aria parlayed the perfect trip into a wire-to-wire win at 16/1 odds.
Do you think analyzing trainers and/or jocks past races for times they had a horse that previously showed no front end speed but siezed the lead in a subsequent outing could provide some sort of usable metric?

apparently a glitch in the system

"During this Beta period, the Pace Projector is only available for tracks purchased through the TVG Handicapping Store, and for the two free Races of the Day."

I did - but it doesn't give it to you.

Stupid operator error...

I was trying to view card on Thursday July 4th not July 11th.

I was working with Matthew - he was very responsive and helpful.

Now on to picking winners!

THANKS.

Just spent some time playing with it on an iPad and iPhone- definitely great on the iPad. It's tougher on the iPhone because I am Old and my eyes can't read tiny type any more- I imagine most bettors will be viewing on tablets or laptops, but if you're intent is for people to use it on smartphones as well (so they don't need a wifi connection to access the web), it might be worth creating a mobile version geared for viewing on phones.

But that's just one opinion. I had a really fun time exploring the site and can't wait for the full launch. Congrats and amazing work!

I have the 4S; can you take a screen cap of what it looks like on your phone and post it? I'm really curious to see if looks different than on the 4S.

Just tried it on my 4S and seems to function pretty cool, definitely a neat product from that standpoint.

Can't figure out how to post a screen shot from iPhone to here nor can I send a pix I took from my tablet showing the screen with it running!

Any ideas? Or send me your email and
I will send both to you!
