Is anybody else uncomfortable this thread has veered off in a different direction and no longer focused on me?

Doesn't mean it was the smart or right thing to do, for him or a horse.
and ronnie made the decision himself...no one can ask the horse. they made the right call.
the spotlight only shines on this sport so many days a year. god, i can imagine the press had they run him and something went wrong. good lord, it would have been eight belles times a million.

KG just likes being the contrarian. If they'd have announced the injury and said they were going to race him in the Belmont and immediately retire him, KG would have said either they should retire him before the Belmont, or he would have said to keep racing him through the BCC.

Can we get back to the real issue. I think Pat should ask this lady out.

Ha - I know Laura well, and she does a great job for the Dubai Racing Channel.

I bet. She reminds me of a prettier version of Faye Reagan. She's got just the right amount and shade of freckles.

I give her 4.5 socks.

You guys are making the automatic assumption that something would have gone wrong and I'm not going to just accept that as truth. As far as we know, he could have run and come out of the race OK. Or he could have run and worsened the injury and never run again. Or he could have run and suffered a catastrophic injury and the entire sport would have suffered. His people said he could have run.

I think in retrospect that it was a Godsend for the sport that I'll Have Another didn't run. Can you imagine a Triple Crown winner who never stepped on the track again? That might have been worse for the sport than not having a Triple Crown winner like ever.

It would have been much more catastrophic for the sport had they ran an injured horse and he broke down trying to win the TC.
Think Eight Belles x 1000.

Well yeah, there's that doomsday scenario.
