Default 5/18: Hi Ho Pimlico! (144th Preakness Day)

HI HO PIMLICO!

POST-SCRATCHES

5th: Murphy, 3yo, 1m-T (P3, DD, Hi-5)

Hoping that there's enough pace for War Film to get his run home because he's developing at the perfect time of the year for a 3yo turf horse. Dam Film Maker went 3/2-1-0 on this lawn with 1-2 finishes in the Gallorette & ALW win. Tybalt (Kitten's Joy) worth a look getting on green stuff first time..

Most Likely: #6 War Film 9-2 5th
Best Value: #9 Tybalt 15-1 7th
Next Best: #5 Real News 5-1 2nd
Exotics Use: #2 Current 4-1 4th
Super/Hi-5: #1 Shootin the Breeze 10-1 3rd

6th: MD Sprint (G3), 3+, 6f (P4, P3, DD, Hi-5)

Lewisfield rarely misfires, but note Jim Dunleavy's explanation of unusual gelding of Ned Allard's 7yo Always Sunshine SCR'd who typically runs well off layoffs..

Most Likely: #4 Lewisfield 9-5 3rd
Best Value: #1 New York Central 6-1 WON ($6.60)
Next Best: #6 Wentz 4-1 4th
Exotics Use: #7 Proforma 3-1 2nd

7th: Searching, F&M-3+, 12f-T (P3, DD, Hi-5)

Field SCR'd down to 6, so ML's meaningless..

Most Likely: #5 Ickymasho WON ($3.00)
Next Best: #2 Homeland Security 3rd
Best Value: #8 Peach of a Gal 4th
Exotics Use: #6 Vevina 2nd

8th: ALW/N1X, 3+, 6f (Rainbow 6, P3, DD, Hi-5)

Best Value: #5 Dirtyfoot 6-1 3rd
Next Best: #9 Overdeliver 3-1 2nd
Exotics Use: #4 Bozzini 10-1 7th
Super Add: #1 Articulator 5-2 WON ($3.60)

9th: The Very One, F&M-3+, 5f-T (P5, P3, DD, Hi-5)

Best Value: #4 Souper Echo 9-2 6th
Next Best: #6 Jo Jo Air 3-1 2nd
Exotics Use: #8 Misericordia 4-1 3rd
Super Add: #2 Dare to Be 6-1 7th
Hi-5 Play: #9 Wild About Star 9-2 WON ($13.00)

P4 Grid:

6: 1-4 (A), - (B), 6-7 (C)
7: 2-5 (A), 6-8 (B), - (C)
8: 1-4-5-9 (A), 6-7-8 (B), 2-3 (C)
9: 4-6 (A), - (B), 2-8-9 (C)

Simple (A+B): 2x4x7x2 = 112 x .50 = $56
All A's: 2x2x4x2 = 32 x .50 = $16

10th: Gallorette (G3), F&M-3+, 8.5f-T (P4, P3, DD, Hi-5)

Most Likely: #2 Inflexibility 3-1 6th
Best Value: #9 Barkaa 6-1 7th
Next Best: #1 I'm So Fancy 7-2 4th
Exotics Use: #4 Mitchell Road 6-1 WON ($6.20)
Super Add: #5 Dynatail 12-1 5th

11th: Chick Lang (G3), 3yo, 6f (P3, DD, Hi-5)

Best Value: #7 Pyron 7-2 4th
Next Best: #8 Preamble 5-2 9th
Exotics Use: #3 Malpais 3-1 7th
Super Add: #4 Admiral Lynch 10-1 3rd

12th: Dixie (G2), 3+, 8.5f-T (P3, DD, Hi-5)

Very good assembly with deep array of contenders in event with real pace..

Best Value: #2 Just Howard 10-1 3rd
Next Best: #11 Inspector Lynley 7-2 6th
Exotics Use: #3 Admission Office 12-1 2nd
Super Add: #12 Catholic Boy 3-1 WON ($4.80)
Hi-5 Play: #10 O Dionysus 15-1 5th

13th: Preakness (G1), 3yo, 9.5f (DD, Hi-5)

Despite the late additions that enhanced the anticipated pace, I'm sticking with my Xpressbet Preakness Wagering Guide tabs (7-4-1-5). The key for Alwaysmining will be Centeno's ability to get him to relax as he did in the Tesio. If he does, he'll pounce on the leaders and try to outrun the stalker/closers to the wire. Improbable should find a comfortable beat behind the speed and expect Smith will want to work him to the Marty McGee 'open air outside box where the air is fresh and clear' on the backstretch. Despite being an average size, he is a long strider that can't get bottled up as he was in the Derby. Owendale, War of Will, Anothertwistafate & Bourbon War are the next set that all feel like win candidates. Fun Preakness that has fairly unlimited options building exotics tickets..

Best Value: #7 Alwaysmining 8-1 11th
Next Best: #4 Improbable 5-2 6th
Exotics Use: #5 Owendale 10-1 3rd
Super Add: #1 War of Will 4-1 WON ($14.20)
Hi-5 Play: #12 Anothertwistafate 6-1 10th

P5 Grid:

9: 4-6 (A), - (B), 2-8-9 (C)
10: 2-9 (A), 1 (B), 4-5-8 (C)
11: 7-8 (A), - (B), 3-4 (C)
12: 2-3-11 (A), 10-12 (B), 4-7-8 (C)
13: 4-7 (A), 5 (B), 1-2-12 (C)

Simple (A+B): 2x3x2x5x3 = 180 x .50 = $90
All A's: 2x2x2x3x2 = 48 x .50 = $24

P4 Grid:

10: 2-9 (A), 1 (B), 4-5-8 (C)
11: 7-8 (A), - (B), 3-4 (C)
12: 2-3-10-11-12 (A), 4-7-8 (B), (C)
13: 4-7 (A), 5 (B), 1-2-12 (C)

Simple (A+B): 3x2x8x3 = 144 x .50 = $72
All A's: 2x2x5x2 = 40 x .50 = $20

B/E Susan-Preakness Double Grid:

BES: 7-8 (A), - (B), 2-4-6 (C)
PRK: 1-4-5-7 (A), - (B), 2-3-11-12-13 (C)

A's: 2x4 = 8 x $5 = $40
Back ups (C/A; A/C): 3x2 = $6; 2x5 = $10 ($16)

$1 B/E Susan-Preakness Double (8-1) Paid $23.70 x 5 = $118.50

Good luck!
Steve
