Zito to run Boogie Boggs
He has to be reaching here to get a Derby runner. The horse is going to take on Stormello, Notional and Scat Daddy in his 4th career start. The horse has one win and a 4th and a 2nd (both in allowance races). I actually like this horse. I had him last summer in his debut and bet him in his last two races. But to send out a maiden winner in the Florida Derby is insane.

Hey, horses with just a maiden win have won the KY Derby, the FLA Derby has got to be that much easier.

When I saw him in his comeback I immediately thought Belmont for the horse. I figure he would run in the Peter Pan and then the Belmont. I hope the horse does well in the FD.

Lightly raced
Boogie Boggs has some talent. Lightly raced. It worked for Cobalt Blue and Curlin last week, he has shown some talent. I agree it is setting up for a stretch runner. If he runs to finish 3rd he may get the earnings he needs to go to Churchill.

Just a 3rd place here won't get into the Derby.

Agreed. Have loved this horse since last year but have not heard a thing about him. Thought he would run alot better in BC JUvenile but reportedly was injured

Another horse pointed towards a late summer campaign, I assume. Zito had so much attention with 5 horses two years ago, that it must be frustrating not to have at least one headed to Louisville. I can't blame him for trying with horses like Boggie Boggs and Most Distinguished, but they don't seem to be Derby calibur. |

Nick couldn't win when he had 5 going in, he ain't gonna see no Derby with this one.

From Steve haskin's derby trail article last week on bloodhorse.com Zito’s big 3-year-old is Belmont Futurity (gr. II) runner-up C P West, who is up to a half-mile in his works. Injured slightly in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, the son of Came Home is too far behind to make the Derby, but, based on his huge effort in the Futurity behind the more seasoned King of the Roxy, this definitely is a colt to watch later on |
