Default Basic Question

I have a bet with a friend on this.

Scenario:

12 horse race. You bet a horse win and place. Your horse wins at 3:1

since the implementation of net-pool pricing, does it matter who comes in 2nd for the purpose of your place price.

All above assumes that there is NOT a negative place pool from a heavy favorite.

The short answer is still "Yes!".

Net pool pricing (NPP) was designed to cater for differing take-out rates and currency values in this age of simulcasting and came to the foreground as a result of the Breeder's Cup held at Woodbine where so many wagering dollars came from the US. The following article provides a series of calculations to show you how net pool differs from standard (old) pool calculations. As you will see, the "other horses" still matter for place and show calculations.
