The problem is that Remington Park is also running their big older horse race within a week of the Pacific Classic, so they're competing for the same horses.

I wonder if it's lost on horsemen that the Pacific Classic is open to 3yos, otherwise how else do you explain the absence of potential co-favorites Everfast and Bourbon War?
