OK Byk, if you come off some of that millions you're sitting on, and ask me nicely, I will consider becoming D.T.'s resident PGA Professional. Put some numbers together and call my agent.

Sorry to hear, Kev.

The bright side is you won't ever have to tell people that you work for Dick's to help keep people out of the wet stuff.

Typical short sided decision. Pro's at Dicks were truly a value added. Hopefully you will land something fast and better.

In certain areas (Baby Dept for one), Target is rolling out throughout the chain, stores that have specialized associates with IPADS in the Dept to assist customers about products (Strollers, Carseats, Bedding, Feeding, etc). They are seeing 25% lifts from this and the additional labor is greatly justified. I imagine Dicks will start seeing business declines that are greater than any labor and benefit savings.

Sorry Kev...retail can be brutal

To be fair..Target just launched their CEO and many others recently too. .com business is re-inventing how people shop.

Dicks' executives had no problem giving themselves a 15 percent raise between 2012 and 2013:

Retail is brutal unless you're an exec. Then it's , regardless of whether the company does well or poorly.

I wonder at what point retail execs will realize that if the middle class doesn't have disposable income, they won't have a market for their products.

Oh, who am I kidding. They don't give a flying f*ck. They have a golden parachute for when they screw up their 3 years as head of a company, so it's not their problem.

Seriously, if business wanted to do one thing intelligently, they'd abolish golden parachutes. No one should get paid millions to go away.

Walmart is yesterday.

Family Dollar, Aldi's and Dollar store grapping market.

We buy all commodity goods (Paper goods, laundry items, cleaning goods on Amazon Prime.

Things are changing fast.

Waiting for my drone to show up with my Pizza!

I would rather go to the proctologist than WalMart.

WalMart should change its name to Food Stamp Depot. McDonald's is right behind them on the worst place to have to go list. Of course I know I shouldn't be eating at that toxic waste dump. Employees of both of these fine establishments highly populate the welfare rosters.

Something is way wrong when you work a full-time job and still qualify for sustenance benefits. The solution isn't to work 3 jobs to get above the poverty line. Some on here talk about their parents working multiple jobs back in the day. They did it to get ahead and afford better things. They didn't need to do it just for survival. My two cents

banks make a killing on the ebt cards.
walmart makes a killing because they get a ton of people in their stores using those cards. if they paid more, it would kill their bottom line, because WE are keeping those people at a living wage. adding to their hourly wage would remove them from welfare, but wouldn't change their situation insofar as spending.
god, i hate walmart, and all the other corporations who gorge themselves while paying crap to their employees.

It really is akin to the "Company Store" back in the old coal mining days. Miners were paid in chits that they redeemed for goods and rent from the General store and shacks owned by the mine owners on site.

The mine owners never paid a dime - just indentured miners by providing them overpriced crap and rent - they could never get out of the cycle. The owners even went so far as to hire their own police forces...errr..."Private Detective Agencies"...to keep them in line.

We know the only way that changed

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Matewan

It really is too bad that people's jealousy of other's better fortunes virtually killed the labor movement in this country. It's amazing what people take for granted these days. Especially considering the offshore labor, right before their eyes, used to make all they crap they consume.

Back on my feet, with the same company, just in management now. Kinda weird as it will be the first time since I was 17 that I won't be working in the golf industry. Moving my tak to Cary, NC.
