Yea,in some ways,as you move inland, it's not only a temperature gradient, but also an income gradient.Elevation is a complicating factor though. All the hills and mountains keep people with money from living in just one geographical area. For instance, that whole area in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains(i.e. Santa Anita) is expensive. The lower areas(centers of the 2 valleys) aren't as desirable. Then you have areas (like around Dodger Stadium) where it can go from poor to wealthy by just going up a hill for a couple blocks.

Palos Verdes and La Jolla are 2 areas that "jet out" into the ocean. The areas directly north and south of them are ocean. You can see why they would be nice places.Malibu is a bit that way(the area south of it is all ocean.)

Lottery picks get lottery money. Staying hasnt helped Hansboro move up. Who has stayed 4 years lately and has benefited?

With Love I think you got a guy that is what you see is
what you get. Because he is not athletic, he does not
have a tremendous upside (such as a guy like Jordan at ATM
might have).

So staying... I dont know how much it helps him. I think the question
is this a weak year for Centers. I dont know how many foreign guys
are being looked at. If Hibert at Georgetown is considered the gold
standard (which I hope he is not), then Love would be a lottery pick. I really dont know what kind of "Center" year this is.

What is clear to me is that you dont find guys that
large with that kind of basketball skill level. He is smart
in so many ways on the court that a lot of what he does
lack, jumping, speed, he makes up for.

I can only speak my opinion for one pro team. Imo the
Spurs would take him in a heartbeat. As I stated earlier, he
is better than any "Center" they have now. The only question
would be if he could handle the very quick switching defense
one particular pro team requires. I also think he is better than
Splitter who will be with the Spurs most likely next year.

Beasely is obviously the first pick in the draft unless some team
has found a really good foreign player.
Love is not an NBA center. Hibbert is not highly coveted either.

Just for the rich white Republican kids from California

If Curt Thomas and F. Oberto are Centers
than tell me why Love is not?

Again the Center Power Forward thing is all messed up.

Oberto only gets away with it because he plays with Duncan. Kurt Thomas can only guard in the post. I dont think that Love will be effective with his back to the basket and the jury is out on if he can guard the post or on the perimeter. He can be a high post type center but the positions are really blurred based upon personel. Teams dont say we need a center, lets get so and so. They try to plug guys into needs for their team, like post defender, rebounder, perimeter defender, etc.. If Love gets drafted by Houston is he playing center? Or Denver? If Love can get in shape and improve his lateral movement and guard 4's in the NBA then he will be ok because he has good offensive skills for a big guy.

The Stanford Twins are career back ups

GPK

Tyler H. is being left out of this thread.
You should be pissed. I know you dont
like the pros, but it is a diss to your boy.

Cannon. I can see Love backing up Yao
and Houston playing a diff. style. Mutumbo
will die one of these days. Denver has a bunch
of big mobile guys, most of whom do not know
how to play basketball. KMart could be so much
better if he did not get injured or had some idea
how to control himself. Camby just stands under
the basket, and on offense stands on the perimeter
cause the wind blows him out of the lane. Nene
is still raw goods but probably the most talented and
hopefully he recovers fully.

I dont mean to make Love seem like an AllPro.
I see a steady 15 pt. 8 rebound guy that can
do a whole lot of other things offensively(like basic
screening and passing... moving to the right spot w/out
the ball, a throwback... so many big guys who have
no basketball sense, no feel for the game whatsoever.)
I just see a guy who knows how to play basketball instinctively.
And that is rare for so many bigs.
"You are 7 feet tall, this is a ball" he aint like that.
no quips about not being 7 foot

Robin Lopez going pro is about the biggest joke I've heard. 10 PPG and 5 RPG won't get him a spot in the CBA. I went to the Stanford-Siena game and he was about the 10th best player on the court, including his brother in street clothes. And about 7 of those players better than him wouldn't make it in the CBA.
