Default I Want Revenge

I'd have to think he should go off the post time favorite in the Derby off the basis of his troubled trip Wood Win.

What's interesting is that his sire Stephen Got Even was basically the Kentucky Derby favorite in 1999 off the basis of a similarly modest figured Stakes win that came with a difficult trip.

SGE was the 5.1-to-1 second choice in the Derby betting behind the 4.8-to-1 coupled entry of General Challenge and Excellent Meeting.

Excellent Meeting went into that years Derby off of 4 straight stakes win (3 of which Gr 1's and one Gr 2) where she ran Beyers of 101, 96, 108, and 106.

General Challenge went into that years Derby off of a Santa Anita Derby win with a 108 Beyer after running off the board in the Lousianna Derby the start prior.

Had EM and GC not been coupled ... both obviously would have been a bigger price than 9/2.

Not that it means much - but just kind of thought it was interesting.

Does anyone remember the big hot favorite in that Gallery Furnature Stakes the year SGE won it?

I read that past performance with tears in my eyes. Where would we be now if only Shane Sellers were still in the horse racing game today??? How many triple crown winners might he have gifted us with???

I think Sellers took off of SGE to ride Florida Derby winner Vicar for Carl Nafzger ... and I think he finished dead last.
