Default ROI Results 8/01 @ Saratoga

Saratoga 2020. A lot of losing tickets and small fields. Saturday was no different. But
that's horse racing. There is always another race tommorrow. At least there was a
small consolation. Plenilune cashed a ticket so everything wasn't a total loss.
Following are the unofficial results. See you all next week at......I wonder where?

Plenilune -$26.25 SAR r8 $25 W/P #1 $5.90 X 12.5... $73.75

Swedejxn -$96.00

Don Guido -$96.00

Roamin -$100.00

Joly B -$100.00

Real Quiet -$100.00

Cal828 -$100.00

Indian Hemp -$100.00

Ruffian -$100.00

Cruzan -$100.00

Isn't there a race named after William R. Travers coming up soon?

Oh, OK. That must mean that Retama has named its major race after him. Also Bowie and Crockett, but probably not Santa Anna.

RQ, I think you may be thinking about William B. Travis. He was the commander of the ill fated Texans, Tennesee volunteers, etc. Not that I know anything about Texas history, but I did see the movie with John Wayne.

Very true Cal. I always fact check my nonsensical posts beforehand. I knew the Saratoga race was in fact named for the country singer Randy Travis.

Making nonsensical posts is a true talent which is to be admired. I lean toward the trivial myself. I excel at the regurgitation of little known facts that nobody knows and few people care about. I was thinking the race might have been named after Mary Travers. I think she was the blonde haired lady in the singing group Peter, Paul and Mary or maybe it was Nancy Travers. I think she plays Tim Allen's wife in that comedy show on Fox.

OK. Now I have to check if there is a Colt named Puff the Magic Dragon running on Travers Day (but the way my horse picking has gone lately a horse named Home Improvement will pay boxcar numbers and I won't have it)

I know what you mean. To quote an old P,P and M song by the master of lyric poetry, Bob Dylan, my handicapping has been on "the dark side of the road."

Following the trend of this thread [if it has one] "The answer, my friends, is blowing in the wind......"

If I can't handicap horses worth a hoot, at least I can try to supply some comic relief. Now getting ready to batten down the hatches for what is going to be a windy and wet night. With all of the rain in the forecast and the storm heading up the Hudson valley, the Spa will probably be off the turf tomorrow.

Great stuff ma'am. Not sure it compares with Bob Dylan, but you are a talent in your own right. Must be good to have that kind of talent. I am pretty much a person without talent or maybe it's just that it's well hidden. Might be easier to find Amelia Earhart or Jimmy Hoffa than to find my talent.

I have a piano here in my house. It belonged to my wife, but it was at her grandmother's house for several years, then after her grandmother passed away it came to our house. Wife had it tuned up, but after that I think she only played it a time or two. Now it serves as a platform for pictures of my kids and grand kids. Sad. I actually took lessons as a child, but it really didn't take. I was more interested in baseball, fishing, shooting guns, etc. like most adolescent boys.

Maybe I'll take up piano again. I imagine I'd be a lot more attentive to the lessons now.
