I can't remember exactly how they came up with that barn name, but I wanna say that back when they were asking fans to help come up with something, a name got suggested that was really off the wall and Taco was part of it. It amused them and that part of it stuck. I'd almost rather have had that happen than to win the "Jess's Dream" draw out of a hat where you're one of many who came up with the same thing. They'll be calling him Taco a lot of the time.

I loved the choice for the foal of Rachel's pasture buddy Hot Dixie Chick. They named her Curlin colt Union Jackson, combining honoring Jess with referencing the names of the parents.

Barbara Livingston did a blog/photo spread of Rachel. Some nice shots of Rachel with other mares or jumping about and looking at the camera. No mention of whether they plan to breed her again, and Barbara said in the comments that she didn't ask because that's not what the article was to be about. Someone had asked her about it with a bit of pearl clutching and you just wanna tell people that RA's not their horse and they don't have inside info on her medical status. Stonestreet clearly treats her like a queen. They'll make the decision at some point if they haven't already and they don't need outside angsting to remind them of how beloved she is. |

i figure they are just giving her time, and will revisit the idea in the fall. if she's healthy and the vets say go for it..
anyway, she looks great. glad to know she's happy, healthy and fully recovered. |

Just thought everybody might be interested in a quote from Barbara Banke in the interview she did with Keeneland.com. http://t.co/8MGxKauZ4A
Regarding Rachel: “She’s doing great, but she’ll probably never be a mom again,” Banke said. “She wasn’t bred this year or last year, but the public still loves her. She gets fan mail and requests to visit her all the time. The fans haven’t forgotten her.” Basically indicating where they are on Rachel's future motherhood potential more than I've really heard articulated up to this point even though we kinda suspected it already. I'm curious about their plans as far as naming the filly, but I guess we'll hear about that eventually. I assume the fans won't be suggesting names for this one. Since it's very likely Rachel's last, Barbara might want that for herself and that'd be perfectly understandable. |
