I am so dissapointed that the champ won't run again. He was truly a special special horse and a superstar in the sport. I am happy that it has a happy ending, and hopefully he becomes a wonderful stud. Unfortunatley this will have a negative impact on the sport, in terms of owners will be even quicker to rush horses to the shed.
Here's to the champ, thanks for the memories. |

This might keep Rags to Riches from running against the boys again as she might be able to get horse of the year by winning out against the girls.

These are the comment lines from his North American PP's, all races he won.
- Clipped Heels far turn - Bobble start, 7W, driving - Stumbled after start - Bobbled start, bumped - angled in, dropped rein What impressed me so much about him, beside his big heart and speed, was that nothing could get in his way of winning. He was very agile and didn't need everything to go his way in order to get the job done. He finishes his career with six straight GR1 victories against olders horses, at classic distances, at six different tracks. In his three year, 12 race career, he managed to win GR1's on three continents. It was such a rare and exciting concept that we were going to be able to see a top quality five year old campaign from a horse. He leaves a huge void. so disappointing. |
