She belongs in the race and can very much win it.
I don't buy that it will have a negative effect on her career or might ruin her. It's true she doesn't gain all that much from a commercial value standpoint, because shes a filly, but....I have a feeling she runs regardless of who elses goes. If she wins--I really hope the press doesn't get carried away with the Pletcher angle and make this out to be some great training job. |

She was put on the bench in Cal. with the Boys, on the bench for the Derby, but now she belongs. Yea, because they are out of ammo, and win at any cost. OK |

I hope she runs in the Belmont. The longer they wait to run her against the boys, the more likely she is to lose.

Let's just say for the sake of argument, Rags to Riches wins the Belmont. Now what? Do you point her towards The Travers or The Alabama?

I said all along she'd run in the Kentucky Oaks and it was the right spot for her. Being by a Belmont Stakes winner and out of a Dam who dropped a Belmont Stakes winner, the 12 furlong Belmont Stakes isn't a bad spot for her at all. If she's ever going to beat the top 3-year-old males, I believe it will be in the Belmont Stakes. I don't see how this is "win at all costs....and put the best intrest of the horse 2nd" Rags to Riches is unarguably the top filly in her division, and she simply has a very legit chance to win that race. As for your theory that running in the Belmont Stakes will ruin a filly, the two fillies who ran in the 90's (My Flag and Silverbulletday) had a combined record of 6-5-0-1 in there next three starts following their Belmont Stake defeats. Four of those five were Grade 1 wins, the other was a Grade 2. I don't just want to see R2R in the race, from a fan standpoint---but, I'd seriously consider betting on her in that spot. |

Why NOT run her, what else is there at a distance for a while in that division? The Acorn at a mile around one turn probably is not her best spot, though she would win anyways.
Take a shot, its getting tiresome all these reason not to run.

Fair enough drugs, I always thought she was good. My derby post gave her alot of credit as a runner. But noone had any faith in her ability till now against the boys. From a betting stand point, I'll roll my cash on her too. She is very talented.

Although anything is possible, I don't see anyone in the 3-yo filly division touching RTR, so why not try the Belmont?
She has nothing left to prove against her class. It makes more sense to me for her to face 3-yo boys in the Belmont going 1-1/2 now when she clearly can get the distance, and then take on older fillies and mares later this fall. As far as the big 3, I would welcome all 3 back if it didn't scare away RTR and colts who should be formidable going 1-1/2 like Sightseeing, Great Hunter and Tiago. |
