When I worked for Joel for 28 months in 2008 -2010 I was always imploring him to be more cognizant of tactics. Specifically saving ground. He's such an epic finisher, perhaps as good as any, not named Pincay Jr. I think he became reliant on that prodigious talent. Kinda like a pitcher who can throw 100 mph gas that doesn't think he needs a breaking ball. I would tell him though, even if you can out finish everyone by two lengths if you stay wide and give up three you still didn't win.

Clearly he is now much better at all facets of the game.

Funny how riding great horses for great people will help with that.

IMO he's a sure fire first ballot Hall Of Famer when he becomes eligible.

Here's hoping he stays safe and sound and continues with his immense success.
