EUROPEAN REPORT

Suedois (Mile) and Fleeting (Filly & Mare Turf) have been scratched from their respective races today. Both were found to be slightly lame and did not pass the veterinary inspection this morning.
Suedois has developed a minor infection in his hoof. “There’s nothing much to it at all,” trainer David O’Meara said. “If the race had been tomorrow, he’d have been fine. It was just a question of timing.”
This is the second time that Suedois has been scratched from a Breeders’ Cup race. He was scratched in 2016 from the Breeders’ Cup Sprint. O’Meara however still will be represented in the race with his Group One Queen Anne Stakes winner Lord Glitters.
Ryan Moore who was named to ride Fleeting in the Filly & Mare Turf will replace William Buick on board Just Wonderful.

All the overseas challengers that ran in Friday’s races were reported to be fit and sound this morning and there were no reports of any injuries.

A few of the Saturday runners went out for a gentle stretch on the main track this morning. Old Persian (Turf), with former jockey Jason Tate in the saddle, did a very gentle canter down the stretch before returning to the barn.
The other challengers that went out were Hey Gaman (Mile), Billedson Brook (Filly & Mare Turf), Villa Marina (Filly & Mare Turf) and Lord Glitters (Mile) all just walked and cantered.

IMPERIAL HINT SCRATCHED FROM SPRINT

Imperial Hint – Raymond Mamone’s Imperial Hint was scratched from Saturday’s $2 million Breeders’ Cup Sprint at Santa Anita following a morning pre-race examination by state veterinarians.
“His [front left] coronet band where he got a blister was a little sensitive. It was sore when you touched it. There’s soft tissue around the coronet band and that’s where the blister was,” trainer Luis Carvajal Jr. said. “The horse is fine. He’ll fly back to Florida Wednesday and resume training at Tampa and we’ll pick another spot probably in another month.”
Imperial Hint was scheduled to make his third start in the Sprint, in which he finished second in 2017 at Del Mar and third last year at Churchill Downs.
“I’ll respect the decision of the state vets,” Carvajal said. “It’s really unfortunate. I really thought I had a good chance to win. We’ll regroup at Tampa Bay Downs and find a race before the end of this year and we’re looking forward to 2020.”
