Hours after MINIT MAUS broke her maiden Friday, VOLTAIRINE made a very productive debut that was only inhibited by an especially rough start. After behaving beautifully pre-race and a spirited warmup with Eric Cancel, Voltairine was slammed by foes on both sides strides out of the gate (screen cap below) which left her 15 lengths behind the pacesetters. After being allowed to settle by Cancel, Voltairine commenced to rally that saw her catch the front half of the field and make up 4+ lengths on the sharp eventual Weaver winner (who ran a 78 Beyer). Cancel loved her and suggested she'll appreciate 6.5f-7f. She came back great after the race and was perfect Sunday. All in all, considering that the winner wasn't losing yesterday, a very good way to begin her career receiving a thorough education. We'll target mid-November at Aqueduct for the filly's 2nd start.
