UPDATE:
Tom's d'Etat failed to start in either the Blame or the Hollywood Gold Cup. In fact, despite being the impetus for the article above, Tom's d'Etat was never even nominated to the Hollywood Gold Cup.
By the way...the horse that ended up winning the Hollywood Gold Cup yesterday (Improbable) was beaten by Tom's d'Etat in his most recent start.
Now that I think about it, I wonder why Al Stall didn't feign interest in running in the Westchester at Belmont yesterday. Seemed like a perfect set up for his next pretend start in the Stephen Foster...
