In Saratoga's third race, while Abel Lezcano was already on the whip midway on the far turn, the pace was honest with 24.44 and 48.14 being posted - one of the more honest turf pace events. Lezcano tried to gut the field and wound up gutting his mount as that horse was all over the stretch.
The board told the story on Tammy the Torpedo (#9, Rosario). Originally on my ticket, I dropped her thinking about all of the outside horses that have been hung three and four wide in these 8f and 8.5f turf events. The pace greatly helped as did Rosario finding a pocket.
Amy's Image showed nothing and that second in a four horse field was a better than it actually was experience. Is it just me or has Johnnie V. been a shell of himself this meet? Nothing is firing in its usual Saratoga form.
Castellano's Eskenformoney was dead on the board for some reason - and was a clear second best.
