Default Quick Comment on SAR Race 6

Since the end of the Belmont season, I have been playing against Corey Lanerie as he just does not look to have the strength of some of the jockeys in the stretch. Maybe, I have been looking at the wrong things, but take a close look at the replay of Race 6.

Both Mack Miller (Maragh, 9-2) and Dyker Beach (Lanerie, Even) had the pace sized up in the lane with Dyker Beach in the five path and Mack Miller buried along the soupy rail. Normally, this would be a winning setup for Dyker Beach.

Notice that Lanerie is using the stick around the eighth pole while Maragh is scrubbing on his mount's neck. Once at the sixteenth pole, compare the strength that Maragh shows in pushing his mount compared to Lanerie.

Again, this might be much ado about nothing, but I have not seen anything that indicates that Lanerie can be a permanent fixture on the circuit.
