I think you're right about that... his route races left a little something to be desired... The Champagne win was slower then Heavenly Prize's Frizette, and the horse he beat, Crary, was a complete slob... Dehere's BC was awful...
Then he lost to Ride the Rails going long in early 94.. and the FTn Of Youth, as you said was marred by Holy Bull displacing...
He probably could have been a champion sprinter though with that kick he had..
