If the horse has shown to hate off ground, I would have completely understood and agreed, but this seems like they knew at 9 furlongs they were gonna get drilled by Wise Dan so took their ball and went home (and then won the Derby  ) |
I agree they could have run and have had zero negative impact on the the horse value if he lost. I do recall listeninf to Shug say the horse perfers firm footing. Maybe Stronach called the shot but I doubt it. I think he thought the horse wouldnt run well??? I agree he should have run but I dont think it was the distance or Wise Dan. Shug thought Data Link had a real shot against Wise dan so I seriously doubt he was afraid to give PoE a shot.
