I thought he gave an honest effort Saturday, had to use a ton early to clear from the far post, and was only beaten a length or so. His presence in the derby would have added another dimension ala Animal Kingdom who was unproven over dirt as well if memory serves.
It may just be the fact that this is the first year of the new system, but there is as little disparity in the current field as I can recall seeing in recent memory. There's maybe a half dozen honest contenders in the bunch. And that might be generous.
