Thanks to the ethanol mandate, more than 40 percent of the nation's corn crop now goes into the production of a useless fuel that hardly anyone would buy if the government didn't require it. That's up from just 17 percent in 2005, before the mandate went into effect. Only 36 percent of the corn crop now goes for feed, and 24 percent goes for food.

yeah, there are so many things wrong with the ethanol mandate. the stuff ruins many a boat motor for instance. if you don't use it quickly the fuels separate, it causes nothing but trouble. and stabil doesn't help. so all you can do is do your best to find ethanol free gas, or get very little and use it very quickly. so, just think about your vehicles. anyone have a car they don't use much? ya better look out if it sits long, and it has ethanol in the fuel.

another issue-we're taking food, and turning it into non-food, when we have plenty of other stuff that people don't eat that can be used as fuel. and with the current situations, it makes absolutely no sense at all to push a food source into fuel, considering how severely the corn crop has been affected.
