That's fine, but what also about the FAA approval of local police, state, etc. flying drones? It's not even just the federal government! Your local town Barney Fyfe can have a drone.
PS: why was this approved? Follow the money, and the lobbyists, from the defense and aerospace industries darting about Capital Hill and getting this approved since 2001. Hell, we went to war in Iraq partially so Halliburton could make billions from government contracts. "Sell every police department a drone" is just more of the same - and "justified by terrorist and homeland security concerns, fellow Americans - don't worry about a thing".
