I'm quite familiar with DNA and how it works, so I don't have a silly gut fear reaction to "genetically modified" foods. That's how American Indians got corn to eat, after all; and the bananas everyone used to eat (we now have a different species, and that type of genetic modification, a lack of diversity, is what is a greater concern).
Yes, of course I have concerns about what can be done with modification. But I don't fear it irrationally simply as it exists. Genetic modification is what made the United States the breadbasket of the world in the last century, is what enables us to feed ourselves, and is what enables starving people in Africa to plant certain environmentally survivable wheat crops, etc.
