sam houston rode three different horses during the battle of san jacinto; the first two were shot out from under him.
the actual battle lasted about 18 minutes. no idea tho if any of them were big, black or mean.
just got done reading a bio of sir arthur wellesley, the duke of wellington. before the battle of waterloo, napolean was telling sault how he was going to form up and how he was going to attack. sault cautioned him about going straight up against the english. napolean said something like just because you lost to wellington doesn't mean he's a great general. i'll show you how it's done. now those are famous last words!
