The old "city negotiated this deal" excuse. Because we all know that unions have never influenced elections in NYC. We all know that the unions would never strike or make out of touch demands to those same politicians that they put in place. You don't pay **** for pensions. the workers pay into it every week and who gets to use the money to make more money? .....the guys who pay the pensions. Thats how it works genius. Why do you think some guys make all that money in OT ? it's because no one else will work it. most won't even consider it. Ya know why ? because the job rots your brain as well as your lungs. You try standing on the GW on a february night when it's 4 degrees out and the wind is howling. Try standing in a booth all day...6 am - 10 pm. for the ot. then rush home to sleep a couple of hours and do it again. Lets not forget all the abuse ya have to take from a bunch of "brave in their car" "half a sissies" who wouldn't dare look at you like that in the street, without catching a slap. it all looks so easy....until you try it. You wouldn't last a week out there. After the first day you'd be home crying for your mother. When was the last 16 hour day you put in ? Actually with all the whining you do, you'd probably fit right in.
