An incident-packed race. Both Dempsey and Green Tango fell early on, before Racing Demon, around whom much of the race revolved...started 3/1 fav, made a mistake and unshipped Graham Lee at the next.
McCoy got Impek into a fine rhythm at the head of affairs, the ten-year-old jumping Impek-ably (sorry), and he quickened things up some way out, soon having most of his rivals in trouble. The one challenger still in with a shout was Chilling Place, around 3 lengths down and travelling similarly well to Impek when the riderless Racing Demon jumped the third last before veering violently right and cannoning into Chilling Place causing Richard Johnson to come off. It was a fine performance from Impek, who went off at 9/1, under top weight on this his seasonal reappearance, and he came home well clear of Ground Ball (12/1).
